@immivoice right now wait for Indian applicants is no 11 years but > 100 years. this creates such bad incentives for employers to keep wages low since applicants from backlogged countries are beholden to employers. this is anti-American and anti-capitalistic. this hurts American wages.
@immivoice absolutely the right policy to repeal country quota.ensures meritocratic distribution and makes the system fair. country caps have no place in employment based queue. It has to be strictly based on qualifications.
@DavidSacks@LauraLoomer@sriramk America first policy should ensure meritocratic distribution of EB green cards. Current system hurts America. founders aren’t getting green cards because of their country of birth. Tighten the system, but make it fair and meritocratic
@DavidSacks@LauraLoomer@sriramk right policy to protect American workers and keep labor markets competitive and prevent wage suppression. Right now, the wait for Indians is not 11 years but greater than 100 years. This is both non-meritocratic and thus workers beholden to employers and hurts American workers
@RoKhanna@PabloReports All of what Pablo is saying is regarding the proponents of the bill but not about the actual contents of the bill.Even Pablo knows that the bill rests on the simple idea of equality and in addition also tightens rules around H1B which prevents its abuse. His attacks are ad hominem
@NeeraTanden46 It’s appalling. High skilled immigrants who are stuck in life long green card backlogs should have seen similar relief. Absolute disgrace. And this is the party which is supposed to be for equity and inclusion.
@debarghya_das@s_ketharaman we all know what's driving EB-1 spike.applicants from other categories are desperately trying for EB-1 by trying to pass the gooey criteria set as part of EB-1. it's bound to happen.solution is to repeal country quotas and do first come first serve, uphold principle of equality
@debarghya_das@s_ketharaman so you're fine with the country caps on other categories? country caps in employment based category is discrimination and runs anti to every aspect of equality. two people with same qualifications and job have different outcomes based on country of birth. what is this called?
@immigrationgirl they had no clue about demand, they moved dates recklessly in FY22 and then doled out GCs without regard to priority date. it’s incompetence of the highest order, they know they can get away with it,courts offer unlimited deference to USCIS
@ejtaub it’s worthwhile to point out the vested interests, who are profiting off of this onerous GC backlogs. these vested interests do so much posturing and grand standing against equality but are active proponents of keeping this quota. Shameful.
@ejtaub Fully agree. Having country caps in EB green cards will go down in the history as one of most brazen forms of discrimination in the post civil rights era. History will not be kind to People who have supported per country limits.
Hey @AILANational How about just asking for the EB visa bulletin dates to be moved up significantly in October to prevent green card waste? That will actually help everyone. Breath not being held, but open to being shocked and surprised.
Ask yourself whether there is a reason that the only thing this Administration has done for backlogged Indians is to make it easier and less painful for big tech companies to lay these backlogged folks off (and even that relief will only last until next Admin removes it). Why not do something to actually help the people in the backlog?

I have seen tech companies support 1) DACA; 2) no asylum transit ban; 3) parole programs; 4) refugee program — and pretty much every program you can imagine that does not actually help their main cadre of employees. Time to step up here and do the right thing. Do something!!

@elonmusk@sriramk Sriram, The wait for Indian immigrants in EB2 and EB3 surpasses their lifetime. It’s time for influential voices such as yours to highlight this, given you’ve been through the gauntlet. It’s simple discrimination.
Our policy of excluding professionals with advanced degrees (EB-2) from becoming Americans if they were born in India is now broadening to exclude “priority workers” with “extraordinary abilities” or “outstanding professors or researchers” (EB-1) if they were born in India.
@KQEDForum@aishabbwahab@sonipaul@Prem11423@SuhagAShukla the panel alluded to the Green card backlog. Can we recognize that as a key factor here, that is preventing people from speaking out? Indians are stuck in a backlog for green cards that will surpass their lifetime.
