We are saddened to hear of the death of Surinamese filmmaker Pim de la Parra, who died 6 September aged 84. His anticolonial drama WAN PIPEL (1976), is a pioneering classic of Caribbean cinema. We were proud to present it last year @BarbicanCentre. Condolences to Pim’s family.

Samuel is the producer of Kitfilms and the lead of KIT, a Haitian photographers-filmmakers association based in Port-au-Prince.

Ian Harnarine was born in Toronto, Canada and is the son of immigrants from Trinidad & Tobago.

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physics & Astronomy and a Master’s degree in Nuclear Physics before becoming bored with Physics research and becoming a filmmaker.

Merging fiction and documentary, her work explores the beauty and complexities of women in Latin America and the Caribbean—often unheard and seldom explored in cinema.
