@SandraBulliv Thanks for framing it that way - it's exactly the right question.
Have a look at David Pocock's address to the National Press Club today. Lots of ideas there, many of which we could all get behind despite our differences. #npc#auspol
@johnyD69 You referring to this platform? If so, agree. But correlation is not cause re Hanson. Some of the most disgusting tweets I'm seeing I suspect are overseas bots eg. Use of American terminology, handles with many numbers (automated). Wish BotSentinel was still functioning. #auspol
@Info_Aus@ASDGovAu Instead of providing better service to customers dealing with the consequences of cybercrime -- clear, simple, useful information for example -- the banks are obviously too busy sacking people because of #AI for the sole purpose of increasing their already fat profits. #auspol
Amazing how Alphabet can ram ridiculous new AI features into an ancient Android phone that's years out of support yet they are unable or unwilling to provide basic security updates.
Why are they allowed to get away with treating the public with such contempt? #auspol#NerdReich
@AnnaKar78326219 You are probably right, but suspect they need to reflect on whether that strategy is working. Maybe it's a bit like ignoring bullying or ignoring sexual harassment -- tends to just make it worse imo. Share your reaction also.
Watching AFP Presser on the Helen Haines attack. Media wastes first 10 mins of questions asking rubbish they KNOW can't be answered.
Surprised to learn that one person a WEEK is being prosecuted for threatening Commonwealth officials. 🤔
Why no publicity - until now? #auspol
@GravRed@devalara44 Hmm... yes, I can understand the reasoning there. Do you reckon it's working as intended? Not sure I am.
We've ended up with consequence free behaviour in the wild west on the socials. All run by companies that actively profit from the attention gained by anger & conflict.
@devalara44 Agree, but couldn't the AFP be publicising these prosecutions? I've just spend 15 minutes trying to find a list of them on their web site. I found just one, in September, and it arose from a voice mail not social media. One a week is a lot!! Why keep them a secret? #auspol
@crakeka1 Go back to 1990's Silicon Valley Cyberlibertarianism. If you get a chance read the work at that time from Paulina Borsook e.g. "Cyberselfish". If only we had listened to her at the time. Tech bros have had 30 years of doing what they want. Hard to reign in. #abc730#auspol
Tanya Pliberseck explains how horrific some comments on the socials are.
As always follow the money. There's alot of profit in outrage - competition for eyeballs.
All true. But I do hope there's going to be discussion about the state of mental health supports. #abc730#auspol
@MikeyJSteele@kevinbonham Did a 2nd year Uni history unit about Nazi Germany. Not uncommon at all for men to swap sides between the Communists & the Nazis (streetfighting). Many were mentally effed up ex-soldiers from WW1 trench horrors. Obviously very different times, but you make a good point.
A 55-year-old man is charged with the murder of an 85-year-old woman in Huonville, Tasmania this morning. He is known to her. Her death means we have lost three women to acts of male violence in four days. All were killed by men known to them.
This victim is the 49th Australian woman killed this year. Last year we lost 79 women to violence - the year before 106 women were killed.

❤️ABOUT THE COUNT❤️
I document all Australian women & children lost to murder, manslaughter, neglect and other unlawful acts regardless of perpetrator gender or relationship to the victim. This means not all women and children killed are lost to domestic violence. They are also killed by people known to them (ie friends) or by strangers. My work includes Australians killed overseas. Every death is documented at https://t.co/DW9BTHwqhk (link in bio).
So the top spec new iphone duo at jb is, gulp, $5,900 aud?
Who tf is this for? The more money than sense class. ATO should do a tax audit of every buyer.
Absolute worst of this platform on display right now with idiotic baseless speculations about motive being aired regards the horrific attack on one of the most respected MP's we've ever had.
FFS, just stop it.
All thoughts with Helen Haines for a speedy recovery. #auspol
