"Hunger Strike" is from Temple of the Dog's 1991 self-titled album. The song became a grunge anthem, reaching #4 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks and #7 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. Formed by members of Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, and the future Pearl Jam, the supergroup recorded the album as a tribute to late singer Andrew Wood.

The song features a powerful duet between Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder and helped introduce Vedder to a wider audience just before Pearl Jam released Ten.

"When Doves Cry" was recorded almost entirely by Prince at Sunset Sound. He played virtually all the instruments, including guitar, Linn LM-1 drum machine, keyboards, and vocals. During the final mixing stage, he made the unusual decision to remove the bass line entirely, even though he had recorded one. Despite having no bass guitar or synth bass in the final mix, it became Prince's first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100.
