A Fox River Grove mother is pleading for help finding her 24-year-old daughter, Alyssa M. Smith, who vanished after traveling to Chicago with her boyfriend — who reportedly returned home without her.
Alyssa, of Palatine, has been missing since September 27.
Family members say she was last seen on Chicago’s West Side, around the West Garfield Park area. Police have also received reports that she may have been spotted near Grant Park and around Cicero Avenue and Roosevelt Road.
Her disappearance has fueled speculation online, with some social media users drawing comparisons to the Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie case.
Authorities have not indicated that Alyssa’s boyfriend is suspected of any crime.
Alyssa is 24 years old, approximately 5’5” and 135–140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
A family flyer says she may have a black eye. She has several piercings and numerous tattoos, including a Pennywise clown tattoo on her left shoulder.
She was believed to be wearing a gray hoodie, light khaki-colored pants or sweatpants, and white Adidas shoes.
Her mother, Rebecca Smith, is asking the public to share Alyssa’s information and help bring her home.

🚨WOW!!!!
A 6-year-old boy in South Carolina is being hailed as a HERO after his grandmother revealed he protected his 3-year-old little sister...while their mother ATTACKED THEM WITH A KNIFE!!!
His name is Dawson, his little sister's name is Hazel.
On September 26th, deputies say their mother attacked both children inside their Spartanburg County home with a knife and a blunt object.
She st*bbed them 50 TIMES, and some of those wounds went all the way to the BONE.
Deputies found Dawson and Hazel rushed them to the hospital, but Dawson's injuries were far, far worse than his sister's.
His grandmother, Jan Marie Mull, says she believes that:
"Dawson was trying to protect Hazel."
Prosecutors say both children are stable.
But his grandmother says Dawson is being kept sedated, and doctors may have to take amputate his arm.
Their mother is now charged with TWO COUNTS of attempted m*rder and is being held WITHOUT BOND.
Please pray for Dawson and Hazel.
GOD BLESS THIS LITTLE BOY!!!! 🇺🇸
