LAUGH AT US NO MORE!

For the longest time, travellers from far and near have mocked us, that our airport is akin to the loading point of a motor park!

Explaining to them repeatedly that the current structure is but a temporary one and that a more befitting edifice is on the way, always fell on deaf ears!

This afternoon, at about 2.48pm, I was privileged to be on board Abuja-Akure Overland Airways aircraft, Flight OF 1198 that landed Akure.

But instead of the old lounge, we as the first set of passengers to use the facility, were ushered into the brand new Olumiyiwa Benard Aliu airport with all the perks of modernization.

It is befitting. It is beautiful. It is tasty. It is classy. Where are those who have been laughing at us all the while?

Laugh at us no more, for we have a beauty with us here in the beautiful city of Akure!

Don’t dare make the mistake of comparing our airport with another. We are not in competition with anyone. We have a structure that is befitting and good enough to serve our needs. That’s all that matters.

PRESS RELEASE

I congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory as declared by INEC in his re-election bid.

This victory goes on to validate my age long position that rigging an election will be a difficult task if the people come out en mass to vote their candidates and are ready to stand by their votes.

I give kudos to INEC for allowing the will of the people of Osun to prevail and call on them to improve upon this record in subsequent elections.

I call on all other political parties who participated in the election to now come together, join hands with Governor Adeleke of the Accord Party and work for the progress of the state, rather than engage in unnecessary legal tussles, as the result reflects the true aspirations of the people of Osun.

While congratulating the winner, Governor Adeleke, I must not fail to congratulate my friend and professional colleague, Dr Saliu Oyelami of the People Redemption Party (PRP) for putting up a good appearance at the Osun gubernatorial election. I admonish him to share his visions with Governor Adeleke for the progress of the state.

I also appeal to Chief Sunday Adeyemo (a.k.a Sunday Igboho) to be mindful of making public appearances at political rallies in future, so that his Iru Ekun security outfit is not robed in political cocoon, thereby inhibiting its operations by partisan perceptions.

Finally, I urge Governor Adeleke to reach out to all other candidates who contested this gubernatorial election with him, foster a positive bond and encourage them to share their manifestos with him for the betterment and progress of the people of Osun state. He should get back to work immediately and fulfill his electoral promises to the people of Osun state.

I urge Nigerians to be ready to come out en mass at all times to exercise their franchise and stop saying that their votes will not count, because manipulation of results will be a Herculean task in the presence of overwhelming votes.
