@Lenelldhr8@hutchinson For someone accusing another person of dishonesty, it's really weird you would change the wording of what they said to something that's much less easy to defend.
@Lenelldhr8@hutchinson If you want to argue semantics- Hutch never actually said that anyone "called" Ed Sheeran those words. He used the word label. All that means is to assign a category to. People can do it without using those specific words- for instance with a picture depicting someone as such.
@reasonvalues2@ShitlibSupreme um.. have you never heard someone call them Fundies or Fundamentalists before? or Evangelicals? or like a billion other words that are euphemisms for bat shit crazy Christians?
@Lenelldhr8@hutchinson Are we pretending that posts like this don't exist? I don't think the exact words are there, but the sentiment might just be the same. I mean, unless you're just playing a semantic game where Hutch's exact wording has to be used in a post...
@Bandistranger@hutchinson Would you acknowledge the closeness of the orbit has some meaning then? Like if Hutch is a "destiny orbiter" then he's not particularly close to Destiny. Closer than Hasan, but that's relative.
@LycanCooks honestly, it isn't an excuse- but consistency of messaging across genocides/ethnic cleansings is really lacking lately. If someone is against genocide they should probably feel similarly about the Ukraine, Uyghur people in China, and the ongoings in Myanmar as they do Palestine.
@bio_pnk This is of course assuming that it isn't human nature in general that leans itself towards religion and cults- which is what all but the most recent evidence kinda points towards.
@Clocked0@SmallStickPanda@CryptoCyberia Yeah- even with them opening up their economy to private enterprise, there's still plenty of centralized authority to manage it. State capitalism is honestly just nuts.
@libtard_ant@SadLexify@DMC0821@naaycoqui@fred_cryptox So, a right wing politician in Israel helps a right wing politician in the US get elected to the presidency who will be much less favorable to Palestine than Kamala- and you consider this a victory?
@stags4th@northislive@TheOmniLiberal Also- real talk- even if they were to have protested Hasan.... since when did protesting become harassment? Are we going to call every DSA protest harassment now? Every democrat one? There's probably plenty of other angles you could pick with more teeth to criticize Destiny
@stags4th@northislive@TheOmniLiberal Im sorry- where was the idea they were threatening him at all? All I see is people saying itd have been funny if Hasan overreacted and used them as an excuse to dip on his speech. You dont even really have an implied threat.
@VPCommentSense@JoshEakle If you're coerced to make the decision to not air something by the government.... that's still censorship. The FCC doing early license reviews on 8 ABC stations in metropolitan areas is pretty blatantly coercion.
@AezzieUwU Conservative voters? definitely they think they're the majority of people in the US still. The leadership seems to realize how screwed they are- otherwise trump wouldn't try to swindle his base with the promise of a check.
@HRpufnsting@BoxLoner I think the point can be different than "Hasan bad." There's a world where neither of them is making any sort of serious factual statement, right?
@calicea5411@shesrightshow Not her but, subtract "earn my support and" and it sends an entirely different message. It would still clearly indicate wanting to negotiate with him, but comes off much less "fuck him and don't vote for him unless he capitulates to every single demand I have"
@AezzieUwU@tenminutecrafts I don't think you're wrong, but having argued with other people and thinking about this more- this statement leaves us with a lot less dignity than what Talarico said.
@TonyPajama@OliveEtVinum Everything about this is more an indictment of our primary system and lack of ranked choice voting than it is anyone working within the system to maximize the chances of changing anything.
@TonyPajama@OliveEtVinum If the choice was Platner v republican, anyone acting in a way that optimizes our chances of having a senate legislates for us would have plugged their nose and voted for him. The choice in Talarico's case is him or Paxton- who wants to create torture clinics.
