Hello @ElonMusk you were once going save the world and abolish poverty, instead you have insured the deaths of 100s of thousands. And for what? Your own greed and hubris. You had such potential. Squandered. You are not Iron Man, that’s for sure. You are not a hero. You are kind of a monster.
“The seven-hundred-plus thousand that have been estimated to have died at the end of a year since the U.S.A.I.D. closure comes from a couple of different sources. One is a Boston University estimate. A separate one comes from an international study published in The Lancet, looking at the impact U.S.A.I.D. had over the past twenty years—saving ninety-two million lives—and projecting, based on the cuts that have occurred, how many deaths have occurred, and they came up with a very similar number.”

Imagine being able to make marble look like water.
In 1858, an Italian sculptor did exactly that.
And no one has done it since...
He was commissioned to carve a naiad — a water nymph — for the baths of a palazzo in Brescia, Italy. In Greek mythology, Naiads were the living souls of rivers and springs. So Lombardi didn't carve the figure standing beside water. He carved the water itself: flowing over her skin, until the boundary between nymph and element became impossible to find.
The sculpture caused an immediate sensation. The Brescian newspaper L’Alba responded with an elaborate ekphrasis — a piece of writing so overcome by what it was describing that it produced lines like this: “Her beautiful nudity, the kind which, rather than the senses, inebriates the soul with soothing ideas.”
Humans are truly capable of the most extraordinary things... Someone took a block of stone and made it look wet. Made it look cold, and made the skin underneath look alive.
As Alexander Pope once wrote:
“Then marble, soften'd into life, grew warm.”
The world has lost a mind whose work guides us every day.
Gladys West, a pioneering mathematician whose contributions helped make modern GPS possible, has passed away at 95, peacefully on January 2026, surrounded by family and friends.
West’s mathematical models of the Earth’s shape became a critical foundation for satellite navigation, allowing precise positioning anywhere on the globe. Her work helps guide everything from airplanes and ships to smartphones and emergency services, though she once joked that she still preferred using paper maps.
Born in 1930 in rural Virginia, West grew up in the South, working on her family’s farm and walking miles to a one-room schoolhouse. She originally planned to study home economics, but discovered a love for geometry that led her to pursue mathematics. A scholarship took her to Virginia State College, where she earned her degree and later a master’s in mathematics.
In 1956, she joined a U.S. Navy research facility in Dahlgren, Virginia. Over a 42-year career, West worked with early computers to develop algorithms that accounted for the Earth’s irregular shape, gravity, and tidal forces, refinements that were essential for accurate satellite positioning.
Without the mathematical groundwork she helped establish, the global navigation systems used today would not function as they do.
For most of her career, West’s contributions remained largely unknown outside scientific circles. Later in life, she received major honors, including induction into the U.S. Air Force Hall of Fame and the Prince Philip Medal.
She inspired generations of scientists and mathematicians.

Perhaps you shouldn’t have dismantled the Department of Education so quickly.

Elon Musk: "AI and robots will replace all jobs. Working will be optional."
Bill Gates: "Humans won't be needed for most things."
I have a simple question.
Without jobs and income, how will people feed their families, get health care, or pay the rent?
It’s been 10 years since I took a million dollar pay cut to pay all staff at Gravity Payments a $70,000 minimum wage. People have wondered: How did it go?
We conducted a comprehensive study of everything that has happened since our 2015 announcement.
We are proof that paying living wages is good for both employees and businesses.
Since raising wages, our revenue and profits have soared, employees have started families while continuing to provide excellent customer service, and clients have become happier and stayed longer.
It worked so well that we raised the minimum to $80,000 and added an employee profit-sharing program.
Yet outside our company, it made no impact: no businesses followed suit, and the pay gap between workers and CEOs remains massive.
Geoffrey Hinton’s Nobel Peace prize speech is short and sobering.
The greatest danger of advanced AI isn’t the machines themselves, but the way they magnify humanity’s existing fractures — misinformation, division, exploitation, power concentrated without accountability.
But will anyone listen? It is the difference between colossal progress and the end of humanity as we know it.

Yes. We need Medicare for All — NOW.
Around 70% of the U.S. economy depends on consumer spending. As wealth concentrates in the richest 10%, the rest of America can’t afford to buy enough to keep the economy running.
This is a huge problem — and even America’s most powerful CEOs are starting to sound the alarm.

It's funny to see so many people ask, "what happened to Anonymous?" Nothing happened to us. We didn't change. You did. We adopted the V for Vendetta Guy Fawkes mask for a reason. The graphic novel and movie depict a dystopia ruled by a far-right ultranationalist fascist government. The fascists attack immigrants and LGBTQ and people of "alternative" religions other than Christianity.
So when people wonder "where is the old Anonymous" - we're right here. We're fighting against fascism and authoritarianism just like we always have - if you feel like we've somehow "changed" - perhaps you are the problem?
We get asked why we don't hack like we used to - it's pretty simple: "what did it change?" We gave the world information to move us all into a better direction and look where we're all at. It changed nothing.
So you see - we're still here, we're doing what we always have done, we just don't advertise what we're doing, nor will we stamp our name on it. That's being Anonymous in the most productive way; without ego.
It's all of us against all of them. We are the people. You want a better future you're going to have to fight for one. Leaks aren't going to change anything. MAGA is a cult, even if we leaked footage of Trump doing the most illegal shit it wouldn't matter to them.
We tried our best to warn everyone - but now, together we have to live through the bullshit Trump and his cronies have planned. The way we plan to live through it is to be the resistance we were always meant to be. You must be the resistance you were always meant to be.
