Eight years ago, two kids sat behind screens building blocky obstacle courses on Roblox. At RDC25, two professional creators connected in person.
This is myself and Eric Super (@twiztrz_dev), connecting in person roughly 8 years later after we met on Roblox as players, now both developers aiming to grow Roblox development into a full-scale venture.
Eric and I both grew up huge fans of contests, challenges, and obstacle courses. We poured hours into creating "obby" games for fun, swapping feedback, and competing to make something just a little harder or cooler than the last.
Our first creations were glitchy and low quality, but the excitement and enthusiasm was real. We weren’t just players anymore, we were testing what we could build.
That’s also how we met - through the shared language of Roblox games. Did one of us play the other’s game first, or did we just end up teaming up? Honestly, I can’t even remember the exact moment, but I know we immediately connected through a love of building, competing, and creating.
In the eight years since, we’ve both grown up watching one another transform from players into creators, and then into entrepreneurs.
What started as two kids building blocky obstacle courses ended in two entrepreneurs meeting in real life to discuss our studios and futures.
Eric took his love for competition and turned it into Ninja Challenge - a game all about speed, mastery, and skill.
I built Arcade Island, a hub of mini-games that puts that same love of contests and minigames into a different direction.
And last week, after nearly a decade of knowing each other online, we finally met in person.
What was it like shaking hands with someone who started as a screen name in a Roblox chat box? Honestly, a surreal reminder of the power of this platform. We weren’t just remembering the games we built - we were talking about our studios, our vision, and our shared goal: to continue to grow our Roblox ventures to sustainable success.
If this isn’t a story of what independent creators, when given the right platform, are capable of, I don’t know what is.
@obamaatredrobin I hate to say that I’m not surprised, but it’s still really disappointing to see a respected member of a community revealed to be something disgusting.
You have to keep track of the order of countries you visited throughout the race, and put all the flags in the correct order to finish. (This could be added as an alternate final if a new final leg is ever made). Thank you for reading.
Each team will have to find the same flags, which would be in the same locations in everyone's search for to keep it fair. My other suggestion, is to the challenge more like real TAR.
