Here's my letter to our Governor and our Senate here in Colorado...

Governor Jared Polis

Dear Colorado Leaders,

As a citizen of the great state of Colorado, a husband, father, and the Senior Pastor of BRAVE Church—a growing multi-campus church with a global influence—I write to you today with deep conviction and a sense of urgent responsibility to speak the truth in love. I strongly urge and implore you to oppose House Bill 25-1312 and Senate Bill 25-284. These bills pose a direct threat to our First Amendment rights—specifically religious liberty, parental authority, and the freedom to live and speak openly in accordance with biblical truth.

While HB 25-1312 claims to protect vulnerable individuals, its implications are dangerous and far-reaching. It redefines faithful, biblical guidance as “coercive control” and empowers courts to punish parents, pastors, and schools who refuse to affirm gender identities that contradict both God’s Word and biological reality. This bill targets those who lovingly stand for the truth—that God created humanity male and female—a truth rooted not only in Scripture, but in science and thousands of years of human understanding.

Pastors who preach the whole counsel of God and declare His design for male and female could now be labeled as harmful simply for proclaiming Scripture. Christian schools that operate with biblical integrity may be forced to adopt policies that violate their conscience and mission. Parents who embrace both a biblical and scientific worldview—who believe there are two God-given genders—could be viewed as abusive or unfit simply for rejecting cultural ideologies that contradict reality. In extreme cases, they may even risk losing custody of their children.

Likewise, SB 25-284—though presented as a bill to increase access for youth service organizations—is deeply deceptive and dangerous. It requires that only groups aligning with the state’s definition of “inclusivity” may speak to students during school hours. In practice, this excludes any Christian organization that holds to the authority of God’s Word—especially regarding gender and sexuality. The message is unmistakable: every belief is welcome—except biblical Christianity.

Let me be clear: these are not just political bills—they are moral decisions with eternal consequences. Every leader who supports them will one day stand before the judgment seat of Almighty God. These decisions will not ultimately be measured by public opinion, but by the eternal standard of God’s truth. As Scripture warns, “It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Hebrews 10:31, NASB95)

Colorado can and must protect vulnerable individuals without punishing parents, pastors, churches, or Christian schools for holding biblical beliefs. Compassion should never require compromising conviction. Colorado should remain a place where all can thrive—where compassion and freedom coexist, not where one is sacrificed for the other.

BRAVE Church will continue to pray for you. We love our city and our state and long to support godly leadership, but we will always stand on the truth of God’s Word. When laws are passed that oppose His design or blaspheme His Name, we must obey God rather than man. I urge you—vote with conviction. Stand for truth. Protect the freedoms our Constitution guarantees.

This is exactly how these people should be treated.

Reporter: "Do you owe citizens an apology for being absent while their homes were burning?"

"Do you regret cutting the fire department budget by millions of dollars, madam mayor?"

"Have you nothing to say today?"

"Have you absolutely nothing to say to the citizens today?"

"Elon Musk says that you're utterly incompetent. Are you considering your position?"

"Madam mayor, have you absolutely nothing to say to the citizens today who are dealing with this disaster? No apology for them?"

"Do you think you should have been visiting Ghana while this was unfolding back home?"

American reporters should take notes from this guy.
