@Two7Five @justchristwo @Rwa_serera Petroleum based solvents \ lubricants make plastics and rubber swell and then dry out. This leads to cracking or shrinkage.

@nathanemo82 *both the wiper seals and inner seals are nitrile rubber in almost all OEM and aftermarket applications. Nitrile has great hydro carbon resisting properties.

Super posh stuff will have a copolymer set up or maybe a viton based construction, but this is largely friction driven.

We don’t *know* the constituents of WD, but it’s largely petrochem based.

Evidence based - a dry, nitrile fork wiper seal will abrade before WD attacks it*
