NEW CLASSIFICATION - AHA/ACC
This is what you must write now:

Normal: <120 / <80
Elevated: 120-129 and <80
Stage 1 Hypertension: 130-139 or 80-89
Stage 2 Hypertension: ≥140 or ≥90

See the difference?
130/80 = Stage 1 Hypertension. Not "elevated". Not "pre".

WHY DID THEY CHANGE IT?
Because "Pre-HTN" was a lie.

Data shows risk of heart attack and stroke at 130-139 is 1.5-2x higher than <120.
Trials like SPRINT proved treating to <130 saves lives.

We were waiting for 140 to damage kidneys and heart. New guidelines say: catch it at 130.
