UPDATE: In June, the Maryland State Legislature overwhelmingly passed a bill banning the so-called "Gay/Trans Panic Defense" but the republican governor didn't sign it. This week it becomes law w/o his signature.
Washington D.C. also outlawed the defense. https://t.co/HcHenpb4QQ
I am currently working in a high school clinic. You would think that my biggest concern would be COVID right now, and you'd be right... but there is another problem that sits in the shadow of that menace, and it's just as destructive, but no one seems to be noticing...

- An imperfect solution now is better than a perfect solution that will never happen.
- Doing the thing is often less painful than thinking about doing the thing.
- Acknowledging how the problem is affecting you can reduce its power over you.

The problem with capitalism is not rich people. It is artificial scarcity and hoarding of resources. It is oppressors that ensure a permanent underclass. It's not that anything can be sold. It's that everything *must* be paid for.
