Trapped in a desolate wasteland, in the middle of nowhere, Cole's dream of a top flight position at a multinational corporation turns into a brutal fight for survival in this ultra-violent, dark satire on economic slavery, wide-spread racism and the animalistic instincts of man.
@DannyManus Plus there's always a chance to get a manager off that one screenplay, it's certainly not enough reason not to enter in my opinion. The fact that contests might not be the best route is a different argument but I wouldn't advice not entering just because it's your first script.
@DannyManus Takes a while for contests to pick a winner. Definitely enough time to write more stuff to pitch. Plus winning or placing feels good for writers just starting out, it's a good boost to confidence and a decent barometer for whether you know what you or doing or not.
Evening viewing recommendation? On the Criterion Channel, watch our edition of Martin Scosese's Kafkaesque cult classic AFTER HOURS (1985)! https://t.co/yUoZznx73V
The renaissance was short, sadly. Back to normal on the KDP backend. ACX still strong, though. They need to hurry up and approve the 150 other titles I've stuck in the AYCL programme. Looking forward to seeing how sales translate into royalties under the new system at the
The reading is just as important, and I've found any genre, any style will do for me, as long as its somewhat decent. I don't feel like it needs to be stuff I'm trying to emulate, or within the same genre as the piece I'm working on. I just need to be reading!
There are 3 things I try to do every day (apart from weekends, when it's usually 2).
1. Exercise
2. Write
3. Read
When I'm between projects, and not relaxing, because long from writing takes it out of you, I tend to outline the next thing, or write shorter stuff, or do both.
make sure I'm walking somewhere I've never been before, so I see something or experience something new. Obviously this depends on the project, and the amount of free time I have at any one point, but my writing would be a lot less complete than it is without those excursions.
Finally got around to watching The Grand Budapest Hotel, which I thought was great fun, but not perfect. I love Jude Law, but he's the kind of actor that needs to be paired with the right film otherwise he just sort of stands out like a sore thumb, and this was not it.
