“Imagine being born into a world where it's already been decided how long you will live and how you will die.
Imagine having parts of your body cut off with no anaesthetic.
Imagine being taken from your mum too soon..

We enslave, violently abuse & murder 100’s of billions fellow sentient animals yet lack the virtue to own our ignominy. Instead we invent lies about a preordained natural order or god given rights in spurious attempts to excuse our needless cruelty.

First they normalize raids. Then they normalize troops. Then they normalize camps. Then they ask why you are overreacting as ash clouds of incinerated humans puff from detention center chimneys.
One of the things that seems so stupid and infantilizing about modern culture is that you can’t just talk to people like an adult now and reason through things and make the case for this or that and encounter people with agency to do anything about it. There’s nobody at the company to whom you can give a firm handshake and the sales pitch. In its place as a process. You follow the process. And then a decision is made in the background. Everything is like applying to college.
So for example I ordered a water heater and I guess I didn’t notice that there was a separate option to have the guys carry it in for you. I got one of these fancy new heat pump water heaters and it’s much heavier than a normal water heater, which is already pretty bulky and heavy, and I can’t get it downstairs by myself. So I called to see if we can’t get the guys back out here to get it down into the basement. But of course there’s no making that happen. There’s no amount of money I could offer, no sweet talking. You can’t get anybody on the phone who has any agency to make this happen. There’s a process. And what I want is not part of the process.
So instead what we have to do is I’m returning the original water heater and I ordered a new one and this time I checked the box to have the guys carry it into the basement.
So later today, some people will come in a truck to take the original, perfectly fine water heater away. And then later different people will deliver a different water heater and carry it into my basement, because this time I checked the box that says they’re allowed to do that.
This is all completely absurd. I am capable of understanding that everything is optimized for the more common case and that this is probably more efficient at scale. I can understand the benefits of that just fine.
It’s just that the society it creates when things go wrong is one that feels very stupid and unsatisfying to normal people. And that’s a downside that actually does need to be registered.
Another reminder that there are hundreds of thousands of Palestinians unaccounted for, presumed dead, under rubble in the Gaza Strip. Gaza is an open-air extermination camp and Israel is attempting to kill those remaining via starvation, disease, airstrikes, and/or lack of care.
When I was able to return to my city, Beit Hanoun, for the first time after we were displaced at the beginning of the genocide, I saw nothing but the decomposed bodies of children, with nothing left of them except their clothes and shoes.
This happened nearly two years ago, but those scenes have never left me. They remain stuck in my mind, haunting me without mercy.
There are images that time cannot erase, and absence cannot soften. They remain living inside a person no matter how hard they try to continue their life.💔😭

New footage obtained by B’Tselem uncovers the moments when the Abu Haikal family was shot. Seven-month-old Sam Abu Haikal was killed in the shooting, and both his parents were injured. The footage clearly shows that the Israeli soldier fired at the car as it was slowing to a stop. The car was far from the soldiers and posed no danger to them whatsoever.
Moments later, in another video obtained by B’Tselem, seven-month-old Sam’s father, Fahed, is seen just after his son was shot. Fahed is holding baby Sam in his arms, trying to stop the bleeding from his head with his hands, while Sam’s mother, Daniyah, who was also injured by the gunfire while holding her son, is seen sitting on the ground, next to the car.
Last Friday, 5 June, an Israeli soldier fired at a Palestinian family driving home from a family visit, as they sat in their car in the Tel Rumeidah neighborhood in Hebron. The family was shot as the car was slowing to a stop at the soldier’s command. Sam, a seven‑month‑old baby who was in his mother’s arms in the back seat, was struck in the head and pronounced dead shortly afterward. Sam’s parents were also injured by the gunfire; his mother is still in the hospital. After the shooting, the soldier who fired and another soldier who was with him left the scene without checking the car or offering any assistance to the critically wounded baby or to his mother.
In the past two and a half years, Israel has killed tens of thousands of children in Gaza and the West Bank. The immunity it gets from the international community has led to a reality where, under Israeli rule, Palestinian lives are entirely disposable – even a seven‑month‑old baby.
Israeli soldiers who shot and killed a seven-month-old baby in “self-defense” reportedly fled the scene after shooting him. The soldiers also refused to provide medical assistance “and did not act to call a medical team.” IDF has defended them as “relatively young soldiers”
