...And cut down ~1,800 mature trees in the rest of Jackson Park, not including ~300 20 y/o trees in the South Shore Nature Sanctuary. "Tree leaves/dense planting of trees reduce PM2.5." "Tree leaves can absorb anywhere between 7 to 24% of PM2.5 in a range of roughly 100 meters." "Exposure to pollutants such as PM2. 5 is associated with increased risk of lung irritation, respiratory problems, cardiovascular disease, asthma, cancer, and early death."

That is what has always guided me. I am proud to stand with Ohioans in this fight.
Does Chicago have a death wish?
"Chicago's tree canopy covered just 16% of the city's land in 2020, trailing behind New York & Los Angeles." In 2021, the Obama Foundation cut down 360 mature trees, with an additional 350 big trees being cut down over the next 3 to 5 years to expand LSD.
Why do we care?
"Researchers analysed 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 in cities. High temperatures caused 6,700 premature deaths in these cities. 39.4% of these deaths could have been prevented by 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝟯𝟬%."
In addition, "Mature trees, not saplings, sequester ~240 pounds of C02 yearly."
