@_afbat I always find that the whole shoreline of Superior oddly feels very similar and makes me yearn for other parts of it. Like when I'm in the Keweenaw I miss Two Harbors and vice versa.
One of the students I've been working with and will be presenting with at #ATALM2023 asked her council for $ to cover expenses for the trip. She wrote an amazing letter and was given an award that more than covers things for her. So proud to work with people like this!!!
Not on here much because I think the X looks stupid 🤫 buuut

Just gotta get that tribal resolution and we Gucci. Do kids still say that 🤔
Well, the best laid plans and all that. Car troubles will keep us from making it to Fond du Lac this weekend, but we'll make another trip at some point.
When I did the PLT lesson revision project with the MN DNR, I truly did not realize the impact they would have. Here's to maybe working with Angela Erdrich on something similar from a medical perspective!
The house will be a little quieter, the couch a little emptier, the bed a little colder. James loves to say she was 50% dog, 50% cat, and 50% human, and that's why she was the best. We love you, Gynger.
Awéha and I have been home for 5 of the last 30 days. Looking forward to being home for the next 8 days for sure, hopefully a few more, before the next trip 😴
We'll be back in 3 weeks for Lake Vermilion, where I'll be connecting with several generations of ikwewag that work at Minnorca Mine while being active in the clean water movement in their community, perfect examples of how complicated these relationships are.
7 years ago, when I first started working at Soudan, I found this photo in an obscure book about iron mining in MN. When the rail was completed in 1884, the local Ojibwe community showed up to help load ore by hand and then sang/drummed/danced to celebrate with the miners
Today, we went to saagiibagaa and I started making connections in Nett Lake to kickstart my research, which hopes to address this problem through storywork with community members. I also got to take Awéha to her first powwow and see her dance for the first time ❤️
