#ModhaRathiri – Review 🎬
A simple rural marriage comedy with a very Bagyaraj-style setup, #ModhaRathiri works mainly because of its characters and the way #RajaKaruppasamy brings them alive. The biggest strength is how almost every character stays in your mind without unnecessary backstories. Their traits are established so neatly that you instantly understand “ivan ippadi dhaan pannuvaan” — and that's a big win for a filmmaker.
The film starts slow, gradually picks up and becomes increasingly lively as the characters take over. In fact, the supporting characters often make the film more entertaining than the leads. @iam_rishikanth is promising as a hero, while #AnishmaAnilkumar is decent. #Chetan is excellent once again his slang, voice modulation and complete transformation into the character are terrific. This really feels like a golden run for him. Abdool Lee and Nithish also add some memorable fun, especially the “conscience” track, which is silly on the surface but surprisingly well-written.What I liked most is how the film organically mixes comedy, sentiment, politics, feminism, financial independence and caste without losing its core.The first half is consistently engaging, while the second half gets a little mellow before hitting a fun stretch towards the end.

A neat debut from #RajaKaruppasamy — a small film with characters that leave a big impression.

August was such a pleasant month for me as a moviegoer. ❤️🎬
4 weeks, and somehow every single week gave me a reason to come out of the theatre with a smile.Started with #DC followed by #VishwanathAndSons then #RamandLeela , #BethlehemKudumbaUnit & #HI

Different films, different experiences — but not even one week ended with that “என்னடா இந்த படத்துக்கு வந்தோம்” feeling. Instead, every weekend had that little satisfaction of “நல்லா இருந்துச்சு… worth coming to the theatre.” ❤️

With #OnceMore and #ModhaRathri still in my queue, August is somehow still going!
A genuinely happy month of watching movies in theatres.
September, please be this kind to me too. 🫶🎬

Joining the party a little late, but as a @VettriTheatres fan for 15+ years, I had to experience the new Rakesh volt screen.

#Vettri Main was always Mass, Rakesh was Class. ❤️ I still remember my best Rakesh experience with Pizza. But this new screen is on another level.

The moment I walked in, the BLACK was BLACK. 🖤 From the very first frame, you could feel the difference colours, contrast, depth… everything just pops.

Even the Varanasi trailer at interval looked phenomenal. 🔥

Yet to experience Krish, but Rakesh Volt has already set the bar ridiculously high.

Now I’m just waiting for the right horror film to experience what this screen can REALLY do. 👀

#BethlehemKudumbaUnit – Review 🎬 Mp3 King & Room 17 ❤️
Malayalam cinema has a special knack for making simple stories feel so beautiful, especially when it comes to feel-good rom-coms. Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is another lovely example of that. The premise is very simple an age-gap love story but the way Gireesh A.D. handles it is the real beauty. No unnecessary complications or over-the-top drama. Film just flows like a calm little stream, maintaining its charm throughout @NivinOfficial & @_mamithabaiju are lovely together. #Mamitha wins the heart once again, bringing so much warmth and innocence to her character, while Nivin is perfectly suited for this role. There is even a small “Premam-kku apram Nivin Pauly life-la ippadi oru love vandhaa epdi irukkum?” feeling that the film naturally evokes.
The supporting characters are also neatly written and performed, with Sangeeth and Shyam making their presence felt. The first half takes its time to establish everyone and leads into a very satisfying interval, while the second half keeps the same beautiful flow.
And that climax hug — such a simple moment, but it lands perfectly. ❤️
Another neat, warm & feel-good rom-com from Mollywood. Sometimes, simple is more than enough.

#HiMovie A simple, feel-good rom-com is not as easy as it looks. It needs the right emotions, lovable characters, good writing and enough moments to keep us invested and Hi gets most of these right.I had a small curiosity around the film mainly because of @VishnuEdavan1 From the posters & trailers, it was clear that he was going for a cute rom-com with the right emotions, and thankfully, the film delivers exactly a simple love story with two beautifully established characters.
@Kavin_m_0431 & @NayantharaU as Mayilsamy (MS) & Mythili are lovely together. Their characters get small but effective backstories, and the chemistry gradually grows without forcing anything. There are also slight shades of Nayanthara–Jai's #RajaRani characters, but only as a small resemblance. Kavin's Coimbatore slang is a nice touch, while #Prabhu @realradikaa @UngalKBhagyaraj @adithya_kathir bring some excellent moments.
What really worked for me is how beautifully the emotions are handled. The conflict arrives around the interval, and the second half is all about how that emotion travels. The way the film talks about how a lie may give a short-term solution but can actually mean cheating someone — that really stayed with me.

@JenMartinMusic songs & BGM complement the mood perfectly. “Rasagulla Rasagulla” remains my favourite from the album, and its placement works beautifully.Nice visuals from @shuklarajesh248 and smart editing by @philoedit.
Overall, Hi is a simple, cute and emotionally satisfying rom-com that doesn't try to complicate things unnecessarily.

Walked out with a smile. Sometimes, that's all a good love story needs. ❤️

#Toxic
After KGF, the hype around @TheNameIsYash was huge, and Toxic had all the ingredients to create expectations @GeetuMohandas has created a stylish, visually rich world , making it feel like a completely different world of its own. #Yash looks terrific as Raaya, and the film is clear about the kind of toxic gangster he is a man with no rules.
But the writing doesn't match the world. The core idea has huge potential, but the screenplay needed more depth, especially for Raaya, Ganga (@NayantharaU) and @advani_kiara character. The dialogues are a major letdown, and the emotional connect suffers.Yash's dialogue delivery also carries a heavy KGF hangover. Now that he's a national star, I really want to see him break away from that template and reinvent himself rather than repeating the same mass image.

Stylish - Ambitious - But a lot of untapped potential.

#PyaarPremaKalyanam 🎬
After Pyaar Prema Kaadhal & Star, @elann_t was someone I considered a promising filmmaker. So, his acting debut in Pyaar Prema Kalyanam definitely had my curiosity. As an actor, Ilan is quite good for a debut likeable screen presence, cool styling and he delivers what the character demands. The premise is simple but interesting. The gender-role reversal had a lot of potential for humor, emotions & social commentary. But sadly, the writing doesn't fully utilize it.The film is highly predictable, and some character arcs especially the heroine needed more depth to make the conflicts feel convincing. There are a few genuinely good moments, especially the hero's first meeting with the heroine, but they don't sustain throughout. @thisisysr music also doesn't elevate the film like his previous Ilan collaborations did. Pyaar Prema Kaadhal had an exceptional album, while Star had some effective songs.The short runtime is definitely a plus. At just over 2 hours, it's an easy single-sitting watch.
Overall, a colourful & predictable rom-com with some fun moments. Not bad, but the biggest disappointment is the potential it had and didn't fully use.
Ilan has shown us better before.

Ram And Leela is rom-com that keeps things light and entertaining. I had already predicted the basic lane from the trailer, but the film surprises with an unexpected twist and a twist within it — that part worked really well without revealing too much. @rio_raj carries the film well and gets to explore different emotions, while the music adds good support.
The core idea and the connection between the heroine and Ram work nicely, but the film had scope to explore the concept in a more fun and engaging way. The first half has a few predictable portions, though the surprises and pre-interval portions work well. The second half and emotional beats could have been stronger, and Chetan definitely feels underutilized considering his recent performances.

Overall, a decent fantasy rom-com with some good surprises, fun moments and good music. The idea had the potential to be much better, but it still makes for a decent weekend watch.

But this time they’ve skipped all that and directly given us a kutty glimpse of the #AlaBolelo itself.

#Vadhandhi Season 2 came with a slight mixed feeling for me. After @iam_SJSuryah subtle and committed performance in Season 1, I wasn’t sure how @SasikumarDir would fit into this world as a police investigator. But @PushkarGayatri had my trust, and Sasikumar clears that doubt right from Episode 1.
He brings a very restrained and controlled performance to the role exactly what this investigation needs. No unnecessary over-the-top moments, just a grounded cop slowly putting the pieces together. Semma surprise, honestly.
The series is a proper slow-burn investigation. Don’t expect huge cliffhangers every episode, but there’s always enough suspense at the end to keep you waiting for the next one. The investigation takes its own time, gradually revealing the layers instead of rushing through them.
What really worked for me is the way the series explores honour killing, family, media perception and social pressure. The perspective they bring to these themes feels mature and thoughtfully written.
The last two episodes were the highlight for me. The investigation takes a few unexpected turns, shifting into completely different angles without feeling forced or like the makers are simply stretching the story. The way these turns are handled was genuinely satisfying.
A special mention for the forensic investigation as well. It’s an aspect that is rarely explored in this depth, and Vadhandhi integrates it naturally into the narrative.
There’s also one particular subject the series touches upon that genuinely shocked me. I won’t spoil it, but handling something that sensitive in a rural setting is extremely difficult, and the maturity with which the makers approach it deserves a big hats off.
Overall, Vadhandhi Season 2 is a slow-burn, mature and well-crafted sequel. It may test your patience in places, but if you stay with the investigation, the payoff in the final stretch is worth it.

A solid sequel with its own identity. Good watch! 🎬

#Vishwanathandsons A classy, mature emotional drama that works more through relationships than conflicts. @Suriya_offl in a calm, composed, gentlemanly avatar is a delight, the film explores the person behind the billionaire beautifully.

@_mamithabaiju bubbly, effortless, and almost steals the film. @realradikaa is graceful and superb as the mother. #VenkyAtluri deserves credit for handling sensitive themes with dignity and subtle humour.

First half was the major winner for me ❤️. Second half starts strong emotionally, but later slips into a slightly familiar family-reunion template, felt there was scope for a more refreshing treatment. One action sequence works, the other feels unnecessary to the film’s tone.

@gvprakash BGM is excellent, though I felt the film deserved stronger songs to elevate the feel-good mood. What stayed with me most is the mature climax ,no unnecessary melodrama, just a warm feeling that “oru nalla padam paathom” when the credits rolled

Disappointing to see major trendsetters like @RohiniSilverScr @VettriTheatres & @Varadharajaths not screening #VishwanathandSons Beyond business, these theatres are integral to fan culture, FDFS energy & the overall theatrical celebration. After the blockbuster run of #Karuppu this feels disheartening 💔 Hope the weekend response pushes theatres to pick it up from Monday onwards.
If terms are finalized for #Magudam it clearly gets the edge here. With #jananayagan nearing the end of its run and no major crowd pullers around, Aadi Perukku plus school/college holidays make this a huge opportunity for @VishalKOfficial if #Magudam opens in these centres tomorrow.

#DC Brutal, stylish, emotional & thoroughly engaging! 🔥
One of the most unique combos in recent Tamil cinema @Dir_Lokesh on screen, @anirudhofficial on music, @ArunMatheswaran directing — and it absolutely works.
Went in expecting a revenge drama got something far more interesting. Strong emotional arcs, meaningful backstories without lengthy flashbacks, and a morally grey world that feels convincing within Arun’s cinematic universe.
This is peak Arun Matheswaran world — raw, brutal, stylish, but surprisingly controlled and purposeful. Felt like a solid answer to the usual criticism about his writing and rawness.
Lokesh as Devdas was a genuine surprise. Tough action-heavy debut role, but he owned it from intro to climax. And that cute Master kaappu reference in the fight sequence was a nice touch 😎
@isanjkayy is the soul of the film — she brings warmth and emotional weight to Lokesh’s journey.
Special mention to @iWamiqaGabbi🔥 Her screen presence is terrific, every scene lands, and she leaves a lasting impact.
Technically top-notch cinematography, editing, production design - everything fits the film’s tone perfectly.

And the real hero for me is Anirudh 🎶 The BGM is sensational. The post-interval marriage sequence and police station sequence were absolute peaks.

For me, DC is one of the strongest films in Arun Matheswaran’s filmography. You can clearly see his growth with every film.
