Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., recently attended the Legacy Land Foundation’s inaugural Guardians Gala in San Antonio.
This incredible organization helps families maintain working farmland while also creating places of healing for Veterans and vulnerable children.
Just like their mission, the GLO is also focused on safeguarding farms and ranches, protecting our Texas Veterans, and keeping families and children safe from cartel crime.
Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., thanks everyone who participated in our 2026 Adopt-A-Beach Coastwide Fall Cleanup.
This year, 6,106 hardworking volunteers helped us to remove nearly 62,000 pounds of trash from the Texas coast!
Our @TXAdoptABeach program works to preserve and maintain our beautiful Texas beaches and these efforts wouldn’t be possible without our amazing community of volunteers who want to protect Texas beaches as much as we do!

However, some state leaders have "grave concerns" that the county won't be able to finish these projects in time, @NickABC13 of @abc13houston reports.
Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., stated, “While HUD’s trust in the GLO has earned Harris County an additional extension, I will be clear:
No more delays will be tolerated … the time for excuses and missed benchmarks is over. No more extensions, no more excuses, just get it done.”

🚨 Be careful, Texans! 🚨
⚠️ Recognize low water crossings.
⚠️ Never drive if there is water on the road.
⚠️ Even a small amount of fast-moving floodwater can be dangerous.
⚠️ Just 6 inches can knock an adult off their feet.
⚠️ 12 inches can carry away most cars.
It's never safe to drive or walk through floodwaters - #TurnAroundDontDrown!
