I spent years going to a male gynaecologist because my periods were so painful I had to miss work. He blamed my diet, told me I was too sensitive, and made me lose weight. When that didn’t help, he blamed my emotions. Years later, a female gynaecologist finally listened and diagnosed me with endometriosis. By then, it had progressed so badly that I had to undergo a hysterectomy.
His misogyny and negligence didn’t just dismiss my pain…..they cost me my uterus.
