Live in VA or know someone who does ? Then join @1VA2021 and end gerrymandering, otherwise it is another decade of rigged maps. #slaythedragon#endgerrymandering#us4us
Citizens have work to do! Here are just a few:
1. Participate in local field hearings prior to the Census
2. Write Letters to the Editor - make your views on gerrymandering known!
3. Demand transparency in the redistricting process
4. Support HR 1
5, VOTE!

@NPR On the plus side, the Census question has been remanded back to the lower courts. It would have caused dramatic undercounts. #FairMaps begin with accurate counts.
The solution may be "beyond" the courts - but it is not beyond our citizenry. Time for an Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission in Texas and every state in the union. https://t.co/yMwclJCPcb
So how do gerrymandering and climate change go together? Gerrymandering has created an environment where politicians are afraid to compromise out of fear of being targeted in the primary by a more extreme candidate. We must have #fairmaps if we want effective policy. #txlege
A healthy, well-functioning democracy requires participation
So what’s the solution? A HUGE step forward would be for #txlege to adopt HB 3008 and 3009 by @JamesTalarico and @TrentAshby#Civics4yall
Ask your TX Reps to get these bills out of committee: We urgently need an Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission
House Bills HJR 123 & HB 3928
Senate Bills SJR 52 & SB 1537

Please contact Chairman Phil King's office at (512) 463-0738 to thank him for holding a hearing on important redistriciting refom legislation - HJR 123, HB 3928 and HB 3421 - and ask that he call a vote on them. #FairMapsTexas
End Prison-based Gerrymandering by supporting HB 104. Texas counts incarcerated persons as residents of prisons rather than their last known address. This practice artificially inflates a district's population count/ political influence of districts where prisons are located.
Thank you @PhilKingTX for holding this hearing. I hope that the #txlege listens to the people and chooses an independent commission, because its time to stop the scam of gerrymandering and let the voters pick their politicians instead of the politicians picking their voters.
