Missouri Task Force 1 (MO-TF1) takes part in making one boy’s @MakeAWish adventure a little more special.
When MO-TF1 Task Force Leader Randy Sanders, heard from Texas A&M Task Force 1 @txtf1 (TX-TF1) that there was a small child completing his @MakeAWish trip, he didn’t hesitate to rally the team. The Missouri team went on a mission to locate the boy and his family. Team members Ben and Kristen located young Korbyn and his family on the beach, where they shared Korbin’s interest in large trucks.
Later that evening; Korbyn, his sister, two cousins, along with his dad, step-mom, grandparents and aunt were enthusiastically greeted by Missouri Task Force 1 members who had formed a double-file line of uniformed personnel, known as a sea of blue, outside the hotel lobby. Korbyn was greeted with fist-bumps, high-fives and cheers as he made his way to take a quick trip around Panama City Beach in a Task Force semi escorted by other task force vehicles with lights and sirens. Korbyn was able to spend some time with Missouri Task Force 1 and two of our live find search K9’s while he received his very own MO-TF1 hat, patch and challenge coin. We were also able to pass along a hat and challenge coin from Texas A&M Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) who would have loved to participate, but had already received demobilization orders to return home.
Korbyn’s dad, Matt, told Task Force Leader Sanders that “Korbyn has his good days and his bad days, but this was a good day!” He was grateful to see that Korbyn was having one of his good days, and their family was so grateful that Missouri Task Force 1 took time out of their evening to create such a special moment for Korbyn, who was originally visiting Panama City Beach to make his wish of seeing the beach and dolphins come true.
From all of us at the Missouri Task Force 1, Thank you Korbyn, for allowing us to hang out with you on your vacation. We would also like to thank the managers and staff of the @HamptonInnPCB who helped make this possible. #ahelpinghand
