In 1958, William Leslie Arnold committed a shocking crime at the young age of 16 by murdering his parents.

The motive behind this act was his parents' refusal to allow him to borrow their car for a drive-in movie date with his girlfriend, who wanted to watch The Undead.

After the killings, Arnold proceeded to bury his parents in the backyard of their Omaha, Nebraska home. He then carried on with his life, misleading everyone by claiming that his parents had embarked on a trip.

However, his charade came to an end when, two weeks later, he was apprehended. Arnold confessed to the murders and guided investigators to the makeshift gravesite where his parents' bodies were buried. Following this, he was arrested and eventually sentenced to life in prison.

On July 14, 1967, eight years into his prison sentence, Arnold managed to escape from the Nebraska State Penitentiary.

He utilized masks to deceive guards who conducted daily head counts, reminiscent of the infamous Alcatraz prison escape.

Astonishingly, Arnold successfully evaded capture and remained at large for decades.

In 2020, it was discovered that William Leslie Arnold had been living as John Damon in Australia.

William Leslie Arnold, aka John Damon, died aged 69 and was laid to rest in Australia, where he started a new life, thousands of miles from the fortified walls of Nebraska State Penitentiary, where he might otherwise have ended his days.
