🚨 Peter Jackson is in talks with the Tolkien Estate to acquire the film rights to more of J.R.R. Tolkien's books.

The next Middle-earth project could be Beren and Lúthien.

Peter Jackson revealed months ago that he and his team had been in discussions with the Tolkien Estate about securing additional rights to J.R.R. Tolkien's works for potential future Middle-earth projects.

If those negotiations eventually succeed, they could open the door to entirely new adaptations beyond The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.

However, acquiring the rights to The Silmarillion as a whole is widely considered extremely unlikely. Considering that Amazon reportedly paid around $250 million for the television rights to certain Tolkien appendices alone, the cost of obtaining adaptation rights for individual stories such as Beren and Lúthien or The Fall of Gondolin would likely be enormous.

That said, Philippa Boyens and Peter Jackson have previously spoken about their admiration for Beren and Lúthien, making it one of the Middle-earth stories they have expressed the strongest interest in adapting. If an agreement with the Tolkien Estate is ever reached, Beren and Lúthien could become one of the most likely candidates for a future film.

i have my criticisms of pjo's lotr, but can admit it was a work ahead of its time, (works perfectly as movies, omits and changes a few important things, so i never understood citing it as canon), the hobbit trilogy and subsequent works… please

Steven Spielberg has written a tribute about the late Sam Neill after his tragic passing.

“I owe a debt of gratitude to Roger Donaldson, Gilliam Armstrong, Graham Baker and Phillip Noyce for casting Sam Neill in the roles in which he was so brilliant that brought him to my attention and led to his playing Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park.

Sam was exceptionally collaborative. It was a stretch for him to play a character who acted as though children were messy and smelly because this was the opposite of the loving father he was to his children. 

I adored making all the Jurassic movies with him. Along with Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, we will always have our Jurassic family and Sam will never be forgotten by us or his many millions of fans around the world.”
