i’ve taught without giving homework and i found it made the material much less engaging since we could not cover ground quick enough for kids to maintain interest

actually homework is good because it students need independent practice and doing that in class is not engaging for higher students

HOWEVER, not doing homework should never end in a punishment and homework should be streamlined (30 problems from a textbook is dumb)

Potentially unpopular opinion: if you can’t teach the whole curriculum without homework, your curriculum is the problem. Kids aren’t“quiet quitting” by expecting to only do work @ school. After 7-8 hrs of work, they should expect to protect their peace & find joy when they leave
