Hearing a lot of settler fisherman point out that they carry millions in debt and so need unrestricted access to lobsters and to get the Mi'kmaw out of the way.
Sounds to me like we actually have a common enemy in creeping debt peonage and predatory lending.
It’s so frustrating, as an historian of Indigenous-settler relations, to hear fellow settlers say that treaties give Indigenous peoples “special privileges.” Without those treaties, settlers wouldn’t have the “special privilege” of living here. We need more treaty education.
Settler fisherman in Nova Scotia ought to remember that the treaty of 1752 guarantees Mi'kmaw the right to fish these waters of Mi'kmaw'ki. If there is concern about the lobster stock, then it is the commercial fishery who must adjust. We live on unceded territory. This is law.
Inclusion does not mean accommodating for a small percentage of people with disabilities. It means applying principles of universal design to ensure the environment welcomes 100% of people, regardless of ability. #OT365#accessibility
Hey @elonmusk any chance we can change the range units to kWh/100km rather than Wh/km? I understand it’s just 1 decimal place, but it’s much more usable given how we pay for power and that ICE cars (in Canada) use L/100km. #modely kthanksbye
#Oilers d-man Ethan Bear will honour his Indigenous heritage during tonight's #BattleOfAlberta exhibition game by displaying his jersey name bar in Cree syllabics.
