3 Ways to Support Your ADHD Colleagues (That Actually Help)
As an IT consultant with ADHD, I've learned that small changes can significantly impact how we support neurodiversity at work. In this video, I share three practical strategies to help your ADHD colleagues thrive:
1. Educate yourself (the right way)
2. Focus on outcomes, not methods
3. Be open to accommodations
Plus, a bonus tip on 'body doubling' that's been incredibly effective for me!
ADHD brings both challenges and unique strengths to the workplace. By fostering an inclusive environment, we can tap into the innovative problem-solving skills that neurodivergent thinking offers.
Have you tried any of these strategies? What's worked for you or your team? Share your experiences in the comments!

You’re not lazy.
Your brain just wasn’t designed for an assembly line life.
It’s built for creativity, chaos, and solving problems no one else can see.

Imagine spending 40 years thinking you were just "bad at life" only to find out your brain came pre-installed with 37 tabs, 6 pop-up ads, and a squirrel with a kazoo.
ADHD Life
Every ADHD project is the same:
Step 1: Start a tiny task.
Step 2: Accidentally remodel the entire room.
Step 3: Forget why you walked into the room in the first place.
Y'all... what if clutter isn’t just a mess for ADHD brains?
What if it’s a memory map?
Like, every pile, every little stack, it's connected to something you’re scared to forget.
So we don’t just 'leave a mess'... we’re literally mapping our lives in 3D around us.
🤔
What to say when you're overwhelmed but can't explain it:
1. “I don’t know what’s wrong.. my brain’s just holding auditions for every possible crisis.”
2. “I’m emotionally buffering. Please hold.”
3. “I’m a phone at 3% with 27 apps open. That’s where I’m at.”
You don’t need perfect words to be real. Even just saying “I’m full” can be enough.
ADHD and anxiety brains - we get loud sometimes. What’s your go-to line when you’re running on fumes?
ADHD is:
1. Brain: “Let’s figure this out.”
2. Also brain: “Here’s 42 worst-case scenarios instead.”
3. Nervous system: “I’ll scream and you decode it.”
Sometimes all I can say is, “I’m full.” And weirdly, that helps.
ADHD productivity hack:
1. Spend 20 minutes organizing your workspace.
2. Forget what you were working on.
3. End up organizing the entire house.
Productive? Sure.
Focused? Not even close.
Apparently, em dashes are the unsung heroes of grammar—who knew?
I found out I’ve been using parentheses where I should have been using them (oops).
So—I did the only logical thing—added an em dash hotkey to my stream deck.
Now I’m writing—correctly, I hope—and learning grammar while having way too much fun. #nerdmind
Here’s the thing: systems help—but only when they’re simple.
✅ One priority at a time.
✅ Visual timers.
✅ Buffers for when things take longer than planned.
