You don't magically become focused. You practice it. You notice you're distracted and snap out of it immediately, over and over again until it's second nature. Most people have not trained this muscle, and they are not anywhere close to as focused as they think they are.
“Life is our resume. It is our story to tell, and the choices we make write the chapters. Can we live in a way where we look forward to looking back?” - Matthew McConaughey
@thedankoe I listen to the same video of Mike Tyson talking about fear at least once a week on my to training. Shifting from avoiding to fear to embracing is tough- it helps to hear a legend share his own experience with it https://t.co/nB6UIIU0gX
"The mark of a wise person isn't never making mistakes - everyone makes plenty of them. Rather, it's the ability to quickly admit - and fix - them!" - Whitney Tilson
@Lexii_Tookhute Hopefully, they get it together haha! If not, my mom is a bookkeeper... If your bookkeeper has to go, check my mom out - https://t.co/rWqCnMmHN0
@thedankoe I'm open to it! I always used Word but I recently tried WorkFlowy and I was amazed. I honestly had no idea note taking was something that could be taken from another angle UI wise.
Excited to see what yall make
Do you have a go-to quote for when your struggling? If so... share it below!
I'll start: My go to quote is "Without a test there is no testimony." - Mike Tyson
@Alexmathers84 Damn right. I try to always remind myself "Without a test, there is no testimony" and "What stands in the way becomes the way" you could call me basic but they help haha
New year new me? Eh- sounds corny at this point. I'm still taking it day-by-day. What can I do today that will make my life a little better tomorrow? Dodging all of the 'NEW YEARS SPECIAL' promos is my mission for today.
Is there one thing you can do today that would make your life a little better?
“The impediment to action advances action, what stands in the way becomes the way.” - Marcus Aurellius
We will always face challenges in life, if we didn't, we wouldn't grow.
One of the biggest challenges I have faced in my life was being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 13.
While I once viewed it as the biggest impediment to me living life to it's fullest, it taught me many things that have allowed me to develop the ability of living life to its fullest.
Read about how my illness made me a better person in my most personal article ever: https://t.co/EAit91bHuo

If I had to give one piece of advice to anyone that wants to become a better writer, it would be to READ.
The number one thing that helped me improve my writing was reading. Reading great writers like Fyodor Dostoevsky, Jordan Peterson, Eckhart Tolle, etc... This helped me learn how to better articulate my ideas, increase my vocabulary, and see clear progression of thoughts leading to the main ideas.
Even rereading my past articles has helped a bunch. It shows me my old mistakes and allows me to recognize where I have improved and where I still need to improve.
I hope that reading this has helped you! If it has... point proven 😉
Writing is more than communication.
Writing is how you practice thinking.
Writing is how you document your development.
Writing is how you attract supporters for your work.
Writing will only go out of style when you outsource the creative ability of your mind.
#Routines are great right? They help us stay focused, consistent, and accountable.
Unfortunately, like everything else in life, we eventually get used to them and they can start to lose their once glorious appeal. The pressure of needing to maintain the routine remains and now your willpower must clash with the low energy feelings of a repetitive and monotonous routine.
Obviously, you don't want to just stop your routine- you're a productive go getter after all. So, what do you do?
I have the answer for you in my latest blog post here: https://t.co/SuxaSnBK1a

If you've been needing some inspiration to take that chance you've been afraid of taking- here's a recent experience of mine from my latest blog post.
Failure Hits Hard
So, I recently started boxing, and of course I felt the initial doubts “What if I suck?” “My stamina is trash right now.” Etc., etc. But I pushed those thoughts aside and started training. It wasn’t until 3 weeks later when I stepped into the ring for ‘light’ sparring that I realized a fear of failure (AKA a fear of getting rocked) was still holding me back.
I wanted to avoid taking hits so badly that as a result, I was reserved, uptight, not loose enough; my energy could not flow the way it needed to in order to perform- to enter a flow state.
Luckily, I ended up going against a fighter with over 1 years’ experience and my reserved defense was not keeping me safe from this guy. So, I knew I had to be more aggressive. The thing was, almost every time I was attacking, he was catching me with a perfect counterattack.
But that was when it hit me- both literally and metaphorically. I had to let loose and just go for it. Take the punches and understand what was leading me to be vulnerable to them.
Every time I got hit; I learned a lesson. If I strike in ___ way he reacts in ___ way. If he strikes in ___ way I need to react in ___ way.
But We Can Take It
Moral of the story- I got my ass whooped for 15 minutes that night. Was I upset about it? Absolutely not. While my face and ribs may have been slightly bruised, my ego was not. I felt more proud of myself than I have in a while.
I stood in there, let go of fearing failure, and gave it my all for 5 rounds against an opponent that well outmatched me (I had a few good moments in there too). I learned a lot about boxing that day- but I think I learned more about life and myself.
Life outmatches us. After all, it’s been going on for how long? And it will continue to go on much longer after we’re gone. We aren’t going to beat it, but we can learn from it. It’s time to let go and accept the lessons that life, that ‘failure’, has to teach us- no matter how hard they may hit. I can take the hits- we all can.
I can’t help myself but to throw in the Rocky quote here, “It’s not about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward”.
