📌Household Support Fund 7 has been announced.
We are currently working with various councils to help target HSF to residents in fuel poverty, those missing out on Winter Fuel Payments, or in arrears. If you want to hear more, please reach out!
My highlights from today’s Autumn statement:
🙋🏾♀️“Let there be no ceiling on your ambitions”
The Chancellor’s budget began with an encouragement to women everywhere to go after their dreams. I loved this and felt very encouraged (but perhaps only first the first few minutes).
🥶LHA will continue to be frozen.
We showed that 2023’s LHA uplift would keep 3,920 from falling into temporary accommodation, saving councils £62.7 million pa in TA costs.
No action to increase the LHA means more people will risk homelessness.

4️⃣The real life impact of this work cannot be overstated. This campaign made the difference between a household buying tinned milk for their babies or going without.

Data analysis can deliver support that helps families put food on the table.
Over the summer my colleagues at @policy_practice and I helped to spearhead a campaign to increase Healthy Start take up across three London Boroughs.

3️⃣Text messages are extremely effective in raising awareness of the scheme for our cohort.
We texted households the link to apply to Healthy Start and had a click through rate of 41%, which is double the average rate for a text message camapain 📲
👇Our previous analysis showed that while the benefit cap was meant to have a positive impact and move people into work, the human and social costs associated with being stuck on the cap do not outweigh the savings generated or changes in employment.

For every 1 child whose parents started working because of the benefit cap, 8 more grow up in families facing destitution. @policy_practice showed the negative impact of the benefit cap.
Today’s stats on the benefit cap show us that more must be done!

Our new research on the benefit cap, published today by @CASE_LSE and reported by @guardian, shows that thousands of families are being put at risk of destitution by a policy that drives family incomes down to very low levels https://t.co/ndGarxGMAv
This morning @policy_practice is at @LDN_gov talking on How a London Wide campaign is using data to make residents millions of pounds better off.
