The antidote to overthinking isn't thinking less. It's rethinking more.
Overthinking is ruminating on old ideas without a new lens. It narrows your focus and wears you out.
Rethinking is revisiting the same issue from a different perspective. It broadens and sharpens your view.
The best antidote to burnout is not teaching people coping skills to handle stress. It's redesigning work to reduce stress.
The cure for exhaustion is removing overwhelming demands and the norm of self-sacrifice.
Healthy workplaces value well-being as much as performance.
By the way, MLB, re: the games that were on Bally and now unavailable to so many folks, lift the damn blackout of those games for those who pay $120 or $140 for https://t.co/jjJn0DOOht. To continue to black those out is horrendous.
Banning smartphones in schools is good for learning and well-being.
New study of 400+ middle schools in Norway: after smartphone bans, girls had fewer mental health issues & better grades. Boys and girls were less likely to be bullied.
Smartphones belong at home or in lockers.
A standardized test tells us nothing about our sensational kids.
The "standard" these tests really measure is our consistent delivery of high quality Tier 1 learning.
Tests aren't about the kids.
But they are about the learning we designed & provided for them.
Every kid coming to school has a story.
Every adult does, too.
Want to make your school a place where all feel like they belong?
Make sharing stories with each other the norm.
That's how we change lives.
By learning we all share similar stories.
@jameschasejr @zipguytweets @Barstool_ATL Elder has started one game went 6.2 innings, 8 hits, 4 K's, 0 BB's, and 0.00 ERA.
Fried just pitched a 3 hit, 0 BB, complete game shutout last night that reminded everyone of Maddux. Not sure what more you want, but these two are not the weak links thus far early in the season.
If we aren't examining our impact as educators on the learning in the building, then we don't know what is NOT working or WHY.
And because of THAT, we will not improve.
If we are meeting a lot & talking a lot, but not about impact, then we're just meeting & talking.
Traditional.
Standards-Based.
Gradeless.
All can be used helpfully or harmfully.
Grading is not the conversation.
Learning is the conversation.

Adults in schools,
Find five kids today & tell them this:
"I'm so glad your here today because..."
Leaders, do the same with 5 teachers.
Every single person in school bring something special to it.
And we should make sure each one knows.
Repeat this process often.
