Plasma Biomarkers Associated With Heart Failure Hospitalization Among Patients With Atrial Fibrillation and Subtypes of Heart Failure | Journal of the American Heart Association https://t.co/M7XwXC052l
@drjohnm Interesting results indeed - but hard to know what really drove them. Was it the modest ↑ in K⁺ (~0.3 mmol/L), or simply the well-known effects of MRAs (with potassium just a marker of exposure)?

HFpEF remains a challenge: poor QoL and functional capacity. While reducing sympathetic activity, beta-blockers may worsen exercise tolerance. Evidence on outcomes is mixed, especially in HFpEF + AF. We need RCTs! Read now in #HREV (https://t.co/32R8wuo0bI). @ParagGoyalMD

SPIRRIT-HFpEF - study design:
- First R-RCT in heart failure
- HF w/ LVEF ≥40%
- Open label spironolactone/eplerenone vs. usual care
- ~2,400 pts
- Primary outcome: CV death + total HHF
- Results expected 2026/27

ARAMIS - Anakinra in acute myocarditis, largest RCT in acute myocarditis. Primary EP: days alive free from any myocarditis complication
WITHDRAW-AF - withdrawal of HF-Rx in recovered AF mediated HF - can you do it?
The trials I'm looking forward to the most at #ESC2024:
FINEARTS - First MRA trial to show benefit on hard endpoints (CV death + total HF) in pts HF w/ LVEF >40%
HELIOS-B - Vutrisiran in pts w/ ATTR (wt+h). Primary EP met (all cause☠️+CV events) w/ effect on top of Tafamidis
Always ask why: should genetic testing be routinely offered to all pts w/ unexplained cardiac conduction disorders with pacemaker <60yrs ? Interesting paper, worth a read👇
Should patients with cardiac conduction disorders (CCD) be genetically tested? Which 🧬 should be analyzed? What is the contribution of each 🧬?
Come with me to see the results of our new study published this week @JACCJournals 👇 Long 🧵 (2/16)
🚨🚨🚨 MAJOR news in the #amyloidosis world this morning with positive topline results of #HELIOS-B. #Vutrisiran met all primary & secondary endpoints. Let's break down what we know... #StanfordAmyloidCenter (1/13)

@MasriAhmadMD Intresting, so now only selecting patients with the lowest EF, possibly also hypotensive? Thats probably how they should have done GALACTIC in the first place.
I will start another debate on left atrial appendage occlusion. This one in Hyde Park format at #HRS2024
I have 9 reasons why I am not convinced this procedure benefits patients. This is percutaneous closure. Surgical closure was shown effective (along with AC) in LAAOS3
