@drugmonkeyblog You have to estimate your % of effort on the project, and then certify that youβve contributed that % after award. And also on other support pages. Tons of admin work.
@NaomiKritzer They're just going to get slammed with more traffic at the top of every hour as the next time zone gets on....it's like the Hunger Games.
@drugmonkeyblog "Responsibility Center Management" budget model....there are pros and cons, but the hope is they balance out overall for the colleges/units. If you're a glass half full type, I guess.

@virgil_pierce@iGrrrl @statistress Often universities do a version of this - space is coded for purpose - research, teaching, admin, etc. Utility usage is tracked by building and prorated by purpose. Those costs of research space are included in the F&A rate negotiation.
@AnonDumboOctopi @iGrrrl@NeedhiBhalla @boehninglab @millerlab @DrLyndonWalker @statistress Or most Dept of Ed programs, including Institute of Education Sciences. The further you get from NIH, the more likely it is that indirects are included in the award cap quoted in the RFP.
@drugmonkeyblog In summary, though, the cost to the institution is what's tracked and negotiated and analyzed, not the specific dollars recovered through indirect cost rates.
@drugmonkeyblog This illustrates the point about IDCs being amortized across the university. We're in social sciences, but we support the costs of equipment and offices our PIs will never use.
@IHSI_Maggie Yes, you and I aren't quite the target market! I think the switch to virtual has been great for these NIH and NSF conferences - they're so much more accessible to a wider audience.
