Atheran Environmental Infrastructure

This wetland biome is almost entirely artificially created by aquacultural industries. It produces fish, oils, and even a few other related products. The wetlands themselves fulfill two main purposes: reducing water and soil pollution and providing flood protection. The local industry in this area has a "price floor agreement" with an insurance company in the area. The insurance essentially requires the landowners to maintain wetlands and hydroponic infrastructure and, in exchange, guarantees a minimum revenue floor through the previously mentioned price floor agreement - which sounds complicated, but essentially just means that even if the fishery experiences a disruption, or the price of its goods drops significantly for some reason, the insurance will pay the difference in the revenue that would otherwise have been lost.

The buildings in the area are generally waterproof and built with brick or solid stone to protect them from flooding and environmental damage as well. They also have green roofs, as visible in the concept art. These green roofs serve the purpose of reducing electricity demand for AC. This is rather important, as these facilities are typically not connected to a wider energy grid and instead rely on localized solar farms or, more commonly, generators.
