the rigged narrative has been a masterclass of deflection from the egyptian camp
they're now being welcome home as heroes after giving the casuals a referee to blame, completely shielding themselves from their defensive meltdown that caused them to concede 3 goals in 15 mins
Roy Keane on Egypt manager making the crossed-arms gesture during the Argentina match:
🗣"I didn't like it one bit. That gesture is there for serious cases of racism, not because you're frustrated with refereeing decisions. You don't use something that important to make a point after a football match.
He kept claiming Egypt were robbed, but when you actually look at the decisions, the referee got them right. As a manager, you have a responsibility to understand the Laws of the Game before you start pointing fingers.
Instead of accepting defeat, he created unnecessary drama. That's not leadership. He should be setting an example for his players, not making excuses after the final whistle."
Egypt blew a 2-0 lead and lost 3-2 to Argentina in the World Cup. Classic comeback by the champions.
Instead of owning the collapse in the final 11 minutes, the Egyptian coach screams “injustice,” the FA files official complaints to FIFA, players call it “rigged,” and half the discourse blames the referee or some conspiracy to protect Messi.
This is the same disease that defines so much of Arab society toward Israel.
Lost every major war? 1948, 1967, 1973 and beyond? Never “we were outfought, outplanned, or out-innovated.” Always external plots, betrayal, “the West,” or “we will never accept the result.”
Inability to process defeat. Zero self-reflection. Eternal victimhood as national sport.
That’s the reason for repeated failure on the pitch and off it. Societies that actually progress study their losses, adapt, and move forward. Denial just guarantees the next one.
Read the article and the way this works is that members of the US women’s team each apparently get like $260 K USD because the men’s team made the Round of 16
Even though they didn’t play
Cambodians vs The Moon
On January 31st 1972, the capital of Cambodia lit up as hundreds of FANK soldiers fired their guns into the sky to save the Moon from being eaten by a god called Rahu. Several bystanders were killed by stray bullets, and at least 50 were wounded.
From Li Lu's book:
At the beginning of the new year in 2016, I watched the movie "The Big Short". Adapted from the novel of the same name by Michael Lewis, the film tells the legendary story of the few investors who first discovered the 2007-2008 subprime mortgage crisis and the loopholes in the entire financial system of the United States, and started shorting to profit. I have personally experienced many of the events involved in the film; I have more or less intersected with the various characters in the film, so watching it gives me a more immersive sense of reality, which also triggers some thoughts.
From 2005 and 2006, I personally discovered the product of credit default swaps (CDS) due to accidental reasons. After doing some research, I was also planning to enter on a large scale and sell short through CDS. Later, after several conversations with Charlie Munger, this idea was gradually dispelled. The reason for Charlie’s objection is also very simple: if my analysis is correct, it means that in the end, either the counterparty of these products, those large financial companies may not be able to cash out due to bankruptcy; or these large financial institutions are approved by the government. The taxpayers' money has been saved. At this time, the money you earn is actually taxpayers' and government's money, so you are not at ease. Later, the results really confirmed Charlie's judgement. The money earned from the largest short position in history was actually obtained directly or indirectly from taxpayers around the world. So I have never regretted not earning taxpayer money.
Investment itself is a prediction of the future. Although the prediction is correct, it will bring some pleasure to some extent, but the results of different ways of making money are still different. Later, after the publication of this book by Michael Lewis, I had several exchanges with Charlie and talked about the decision at that time. He said that if you made a lot of money doing CDS at that time, you may still be looking for a new CDS today. A big short opportunity. Human nature is like this.
Actions and feelings of some people could only be thought of and react upon as natural disasters. Unconditional and controllable.
Accept it with peace. Survive gracefully and continue the march forward.
