@OwenMRoe I usually go metrics from the type designers I trust, optical from in-house quick & dirty display faces. But if you like optical better, no harm in using it 😁

@OwenMRoe Metrics are indeed the designer’s choice. All (lots of, realistically*) encounterable glyph combinations of a typeface’s individual fonts are manually considered and adjusted. Optical kerning is Adobe’s answer to badly kerned fonts, works with an algorithm to calculate spacing.
