Staring down the actual Declaration of Independence before stepping into the octagon as an underdog to beat the piss out of an undefeated fighter in front of the world is an extraordinary level of legendary
On June 13, 1777, a 19-year-old French teenager landed on a beach in South Carolina, uninvited, to fight in someone else's war. He would become one of the most important men in American history.
The Marquis de Lafayette was one of the richest young aristocrats in France. He had a beautiful wife, a fortune, and zero reason to risk any of it. But he believed in the American cause so fiercely that when the French king forbade him from going, Lafayette bought his own ship and sailed anyway. He literally went AWOL from a life of luxury to bleed for a country that didn't exist yet.
Congress was annoyed at first. Another foreign officer looking for a paycheck? Then Lafayette offered to serve for free and pay his own way. That got their attention.
He met Washington and the two formed one of the great father-son bonds in American history. Washington had no biological children. Lafayette named his only son George Washington Lafayette.
He took a bullet in the leg at Brandywine and kept rallying the retreat. He was instrumental at Yorktown, the battle that won the war. He went home a hero on two continents.
A foreign teenager believed in America before America did. 249 years ago today.
Switch hitters….listen up! Two things….twice as many swings daily from your weak side than your strong side. It’s the only way to eventually get them equal. Secondly, try to do a lot of the same things from each side, i.e. setup, stance and hand position, so that there aren’t a bunch of swing thoughts clouding ur mind. Love what this young fella is doing….similar setups. Love that the bat starts on the shoulder and snaps up to hitting position. Soft front stride, back knee bent…excellent. More swings lefty for him….not as free and easy throughout the swing as he is righty, but you are well on your way….nice job!
Fable NPC system is so sophisticated the devs are calling it a "life simulator"
You build reputation through your actions in the game, then each NPC has a different opinion of you based on your reputation.
You might have to become a rich business owner to impress and date one of the NPCs in the game, but another NPC will hate you for being so rich. As a consequence, that NPC could increase the prices on their merchandise when you visit their store.
Even small actions such as giving money to the homeless or evicting people out of their houses will impact your reputation, and this can be done at a very large scale, because you could:
- Buy every home in the world of Fable
- Evict everyone out of their homes
- Have every NPC now live on the street
Possibilities are quite literally endless here
Love how athletic he looks at the plate. His set up is perfect! That being said, when they’re 10,11,12 yrs old, they have to grow in to and develop power. There is no secret sauce where consistent power magically appears. I wouldn’t change a thing. Keep this set up, bat flat, in the zone as long as possible. Singles and doubles will turn into HRs as he gets bigger, faster and stronger. He’s off to a great start with this set up!
Nice video.
Lot of great stuff in here for movement preparation that athletes and coaches can take from - CARS, PAILS/RAILS, mobility work, bands, constraint training, weighted ball work, integrated technology, and much more.
Overall, pretty solid here. Keeps the back leg bent through the whole swing, so the balance is really good upon finish of the swing. Front elbow is bent, so no arm bar which is preferred. The only thing I would work on is the bat wrap. Bat almost points at pitcher as he loads. Top of the bat, ideally, should split the middle of his head. I only bring this up because the wrap could cause him to have a hard time catching up to velocity. Hope this helps…

🇺🇸 Most Badass Ballplayers: Combat Veteran Edition #2 Ted Williams
Ted Williams, widely regarded as the greatest pure hitter who ever lived, was one badass ballplayer.
Born August 30, 1918, in San Diego, California.
He made his major league debut with the Boston Red Sox in 1939 and quickly became one of the most feared hitters in baseball. In 1941, at just 22 years old, he hit .406, the last time any player has hit over .400 in a season.
He followed that up by winning another batting title in 1942. By the end of the 1942 season, Williams was already a superstar and widely considered the best hitter in the game.
Then, after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Williams enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and trained as a pilot.
He missed the 1943, 1944, and 1945 seasons, three full prime years of his career, while serving stateside during World War II.
When he returned in 1946, there were questions about whether he could pick up where he left off.
He answered them immediately, winning the American League MVP award in his first season back.
Over the next several years he continued to dominate, winning the Triple Crown in 1947 and another batting title in 1948.
When the Korean War broke out, Williams was recalled to active duty as a Marine Corps pilot.
In 1952 and 1953 he flew 39 combat missions over North Korea in the F9F Panther jet.
He often flew as wingman for future astronaut John Glenn.
On one mission his plane was hit by the enemy and caught fire. He made a successful belly landing and jumped out and ran off the wingtip to safety.
He was hit by enemy fire at least three times during his tour.
After Korea, Williams returned to baseball in 1953 and continued one of the most remarkable careers in baseball history.
He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1966.
Ted Williams, superstar athlete, answered the call for his country twice.
Thank you, Ted! 🫡🇺🇸⚾
