This is probably the hardest version we’ve ever built for #RuneHero.
Not the most ambitious.
Not the most content-heavy.
But definitely the most painful one.
Over the past 3 years, we’ve faced all kinds of challenges —design, tech, product, even business direction.
But none of them felt like this.
The first problem: Cheating.
In previous tests, we tried multiple solutions.
And every time, someone still found a way to break the system.
Not just small exploits —
but things that completely destroyed fairness.
And in a game where players invest time, effort, even money…
once fairness is gone, everything collapses.
So we made a decision:
We stop patching.
We rebuild from the ground up.
We spent 4.5 months rewriting the core architecture
just to eliminate the possibility of cheating.
Not reduce it.
Not manage it.
Eliminate it.
The second problem: The market.
While we were rebuilding,
the market changed — fast.
GameFi cooled down.
Narratives shifted.
Liquidity disappeared.
Projects shut down.
Teams pivoted to Web2.
Some of our old partners simply left.
At some point, we had to admit:
We probably missed the best timing.
And that’s when things got real.
Because now the question is no longer:
“Can we ride the trend?”
It becomes:
“Are we still willing to build when the trend is gone?”
We went through that phase —anxiety, doubt, hesitation.
But eventually, we came to a simple conclusion:
We don’t control the market.
We don’t control narratives.
We only control what we build.
So CBT2 is not just another test.
It’s the result of:
choosing fairness over shortcuts
choosing long-term over hype
choosing to keep building when others stop
We don’t know if this is the “right” choice.
Maybe the market doesn’t care.
Maybe players don’t come back.
But one thing we’re sure of:
If we don’t even believe in what we’re building,
then no one else will.
CBT2 is coming.
And this time,
we’re not here to chase the market.
We’re here to prove something.
