Tzuyu was born in Tainan, Taiwan and began dancing at a very young age and trained at a dance academy. In 2012, she was discovered by talent scouts at the Muse Performing Arts Workshop in Tainan and moved to South Korea to start training. In 2015, she competed in JYP Entertainment's reality TV show Sixteen and was chosen to join TWICE. She officially debuted on October 2015 as part of the group with their EP 'The Story Begins' and its lead single "Like Ooh-Ahh", the 1st Kpop debut song to reach 100M views on YouTube!

Tzuyu soon became famous as a TV star, hosting several hit shows! She began her Solo career, releasing covers of "Me!" by Taylor Swift and "Christmas Without You" by Ava Max as part of the Melody Project series. On September 6, 2024, Tzuyu released her debut EP, 'Aboutzu'! Pre-orders of 'Aboutzu' reached 467,500 units sold around the world. In South Korea, the EP debuted at No. 3 on the Circle Album Chart for the week ending September 7, with an impressive 284,844 copies sold! In the US, it debuted at No. 19 on the Billboard 200 with 24,000 album-equivalent units, including 22,000 physical album sales! Tzuyu is a Top Model, and has featured in several advertisements including one for LG U+ and Crocs Korea! She has starred on the cover of various magazines including L'Officiel Malaysia in October 2021 as the new face of Coach Fall/Winter 2021 collection. In January 2022, Tzuyu was chosen as the muse for South Korean clothing brand Zooc and in October, she was announced as the muse of Visée, a top Japanese cosmetics brands. In October 2023, she became the Global Ambassador for Pond's Evolution Campaign, solidifying her status as a global brand ambassador. In March 2026, she became 7-ELEVEN Taiwan’s ambassador, and joined Victoria’s Secret PINK endorsements in early 2026, highlighted by her standout performance at the 2025 VS Fashion Show that sparked the viral “Tzuyu effect.” She also appears in Max Mara fashion events, showcasing her elegant appeal across beauty, lifestyle, and high fashion.

Tzuyu has won several awards as a soloist, including Best Performance Musician (BPM) at Music Bank (2024), her first physical solo trophy, for "Run Away, Female Artist of the Year at the 2025 DABEME Music Awards and 1st place in the "Best K-pop Idols" category at the 2024 Korean Forbes K-pop Awards! As a member of TWICE, she has won 121 awards out of 361 nominations, including 21 MAMA Awards, 12 Golden Disc Awards, 10 Soribada Best K-Music Awards, 9 Japan Gold Disc Awards, 9 Asia Artist Awards, 7 Circle Chart Music Awards, 7 Seoul Music Awards, 5 Melon Music Awards, 5 Genie Music Awards, 4 Fact Music Awards, 3 BUGS Music Awards, 2 APAN Music Awards, 2 Korea Popular Music Awards and a Hanteo Music award! She is frequently named a “Charity Angel” through the CHOEAEDOL fan-voting platform, triggering dozens of donations (often ₩500,000 each) in her name to causes like disability support via the MIRAL Welfare Foundation. In February 2023, Tzuyu with TWICE donated ₩200 million to help in the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake through Save the Children.
