@chris_neto We have a 8640x2160 display in our auditorium (we use it 32:9 or 8K wide x 4k high) - so normalised / simple transport and hardware that supports 8K would be good. At moment it is possible, but a faff with ‘surround’ or ‘unison’ setups GPU. #AVinTheAM
@chris_neto Q5/1 Although ICVFX focused, the emergence of RGBCA, adding Cyan and Amber and RGBW / RGBWW adding dedicated white pixels is a trend with broader implications for adjacent workflows. Higher bandwidth requirements for pixel processing and transport etc. #AVinTheAM
@westfieldstrat is it just me that finds the fake soap-bubble snow on the ‘street’ extremely annoying? You can’t avoid it when walking to the station from the park unless walking a long way around… yes…. That sounds grumpy. Sorry!
@chris_neto Q5 SM can be a good way for employer or potential employee to start an informal conversation before a formal app. In both directions posting interesting, engaging stuff helps keep any analysis from either side useful. Aids alignment of workplace culture to people #AVinTheAM
@chris_neto Q1/1 I see this from a different perspective - higher ed is focused on knowledge exchange, so socials are a way of understanding who is doing what in our peer institutions and adjacent sectors. If I see something unusual or innovative, I am more likely to explore. #AVinTheAM
@chris_neto Q4/2 Building / calibrating the DV Led walls, colour science / test & measurement, camera tracking, production lighting, pixel processors, all overlap - however, learn to produce optimised cinematic levels / environments in Unreal Engine… you will be golden! #AVinTheAM
@chris_neto Q4/1 been missing from #AVinTheAM for while, focused on delivering a new campus and developing a Virtual Production Research Volume - the latter discipline is crying out for highly skilled people across the many aspects that intersect with AV/integration…
Walking though Stratford Westfield to our new campus site - why would you name your mobile food business ‘Shicken’ ? Is it supposed to make you Shick? Maybe I just don’t get it…
@chris_neto A focus on UX is a focus on all of the above. If you develop insightful engineering/solutions for the people who will ultimately exercise your spaces, systems and services, the rest follows. Sounds easy! Doing it well and with simplicity as a guiding principle is not! #AVintheAM
@chris_neto@frankpadikkala Q6The most damaging aspect of this for me is that manufacturers, distributors and SI’s hold on to preconceived notions about previous projects and/or affiliations with certain products/types. Engineering for the best outcome is standards based but always case-by-case #AVintheAm
@chris_neto Q4/1 for our new build campus OFE is not about functionality, but part of the project sustainability strategy. 1/3rd of the room equipment is OFE moving with us, matched with identical new procurement. It takes forward planning to keep standards & maximise lifecycle #AVintheAM
@chris_neto Q3 / 1 No. I don’t believe tech in and of itself has changed much. Generic adoption for a larger number of core tasks, maybe. The issue is that during lockdown there is enforced parity, which is not reflective of baseline multimodal work outside of these conditions. #AVintheAM
@chris_neto Q4 / 1 for HEIs a challenge is the split between multimodal working / teaching / learning on time management / location management; balancing on-campus and on-line commitments when each have differing cultures can create friction or a mismatch of expectations. #AVintheAM
Ok @avtweeps@HETMA_org@LTSMG_ this peaked my attention in the context of our tendency for complexity and a frontier focus. what are your #thoughts on current design practice / UX and ‘tech shame’ ? https://t.co/YSWaGKeCEm
@chris_neto Late to the #AVintheAM party… but #ISE2023 was intersting for me this year as I had an absolute singular focus on Virtual Production. The relevant booths were all shapes and sizes, but the availability of genuine subject matter expertise was the key differential.
@chris_neto@HETMA_org Things I agree with and things I don’t in this thread (as any good debate). For me the Q is not of design, which always requires strong partnerships, but of enterprise speed/scale, which determines in-house vs. In-house+ (our design, delivered by an integrator) #AVinTheAM
@_AVAP@chris_neto@HETMA_org Conversely - blindly accepting solution design from a 3rd party with less subject matter intelligence (used deliberately in place of ‘expertise’) about your space typologies and user journeys is madness……
