THE FALSE PREMISE THAT IPOB BELONGS TO NNAMDI KANU

There is this false assumption recently going viral which have the potential to mislead the Biafran people that must be vehemently challenged and factually disputed accordingly.

One Chris Nwogu and his co-handlers under the so-called Sokoto DOS appears to operate from a fundamental premise that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is the personal property of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and, by extension, that whoever claims authority under Kanu can automatically exercise authority over the entire organization and its membership.

This premise, however, raises a much bigger question: Does IPOB belong to an individual, or does it belong to the people and the cause for which it was established?

The distinction is important because leadership, ownership and institutional legitimacy are not necessarily the same thing.

A person may occupy a leadership position within an organization, but that does not automatically convert the organization into his personal possession.

IPOB's identity, structures, members, objectives and historical development cannot simply be reduced to the personality of one individual. Therefore, using Nnamdi Kanu's name as the sole basis for issuing directives in the name of IPOB does not, by itself, establish legitimate authority over the organization.

The real test of organizational legitimacy is not how loudly an individual invokes the name of IPOB, but whether there is an identifiable institutional structure, recognized membership base and functioning organizational mechanism through which such authority is exercised.

If Chris Nwogu and those operating around the Sokoto DOS continue to assume that invoking Nnamdi Kanu's name automatically gives them the authority to speak for IPOB, reality may eventually provide a difficult lesson.

A name cannot substitute for an institutional base, and an assertion of authority cannot create legitimacy where the necessary organizational foundation does not exist.

Doing so carries legal implications for those parading themselves as Sokoto DOS issuing threats and election boycott in the name of IPOB.

When that reality eventually becomes unavoidable, the question will be straightforward: what institutional base remains from which Chris Nwogu, a non IPOB member can legitimately use the name of IPOB to issue orders?

If the answer is unclear, then the entire exercise risks exposing the weakness of a system that has confused loyalty to an individual with ownership of an institution.

IPOB, like any serious organization, must ultimately be defined by its people, structures, principles and institutional continuity—not by the assumption that one person's name confers unlimited authority upon everyone claiming to act through him.

The agent provocateurs acting as Sokoto DOS should take this clarification as a warning to desist from using IPOB institutionalized name for any reason or risk incurring the full legal and institutional weight of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, (IPOB) headed by Maazi Chikadibia Edoziem led Directorate Of State, (DOS)

🇵🇱🇪🇺 During a European Parliament debate on human rights in Nigeria, Pakistan, and Sudan, Dominik Tarczyński highlighted that a genocide of Christians is taking place in Nigeria. The MEP stated that Christians there are falling victim to Islamists. According to the Polish lawmaker, Western Europe's migration policies have also enabled Islamist extremists to enter Europe.

At the same time, Tarczyński emphasised that as early as 2015, Poland opposed opening its borders to mass migration from African nations. He added his signature phrase: "Learn from Poland, be like Poland." His remarks came as Members of the European Parliament strongly condemned human rights violations in Sudan, Nigeria, and Pakistan.

Particular attention was drawn to the deteriorating situation of Christians in Nigeria, including a surge in kidnappings. It should be noted that Christians remain the most persecuted religious group in the world. According to estimates by the organisation Open Doors, 4,849 believers were killed for their faith in Christ in the 2026 reporting period, with nearly 72% of all killings of Christians taking place in Nigeria.

A deep humanitarian and environmental crisis is unfolding in Uzuakoli Ancient Kingdom, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, as communities continue to witness the relentless advance of devastating gully erosion that is swallowing homes, farmlands, roads, economic trees, and even ancestral burial grounds.

With every rainfall, the gully expands at an alarming rate, forcing families to live in fear as buildings develop dangerous cracks and valuable agricultural lands disappear. Residents say generations of hard work and cherished heritage are being washed away before their very eyes.

The affected communities are making an urgent appeal to the Abia State Government, relevant environmental agencies, humanitarian organizations, and development partners to immediately intervene before the disaster claims more lives and properties.

Community leaders warn that if urgent erosion-control measures are not implemented, many families could be displaced, livelihoods destroyed, and entire communities cut off from essential roads and infrastructure.

Kemi Badenoch, leader of the Conservative Party, has urged the Labour government not to water down plans to double the wait for permanent UK residency (ILR) from 5 to 10 years.

Can you imagine someone who calls himself a leader is sending Autopilot thugs in Abia to go and attack IPOB coordinators in Aba where they gathered for meeting , the same group of people that killed Ikechukwu Ugwuoha, instructing them to kill and destroy anyone who challenged them from taking over IPOB leadership in Abia ?

Before his death in 2011, Mr Ojukwu accused Mr Gowon of betraying the agreement allegedly reached at the Aburi meeting, including an understanding that Nigeria would be restructured in a way that allowed the then four regions greater autonomy.
However, in his autobiography, “My Life of Duty and Allegiance”, launched in Abuja on Tuesday, Mr Gowon maintained that there was no agreement at Aburi to allow the Eastern Region to secede and establish Biafra.
Although Mr Ojukwu is no longer alive to respond to the claims in Mr Gowon’s book, an old NTA interview in which he spoke extensively about the Aburi meeting recently resurfaced on social media.
What Ojukwu said
The exact date of the interview could not be independently verified.
In the interview, Mr Ojukwu insisted that records and transcripts of the Aburi meeting showed that both sides reached the partitioning agreements, contrary to Mr Gowon’s recent account.
“The tapes are available, the records are there. In fact, about two weeks ago, I saw a set of the records again. The transcripts are available but we were talking about the Nigerian situation and certainly at the end, everybody said, ‘You told them this, you did that,’” he said.
He argued that the disagreements that followed Aburi were influenced more by external pressures than by differences between himself and Mr Gowon.
“The fact was our case was so clear that I actually believe that at the end of Aburi that the problem was not Gowon but the problem was the ambassadors in Lagos who were pressing for something else because we understood each other, we agreed on every single point,” he said.
Mr Ojukwu also recalled that the minutes of the meeting were drafted jointly by his chief secretary and officials from Mr Gowon’s side, after which both delegations reportedly agreed on the final document.
“The drafting was in fact with my chief secretary with two other chief secretaries from the other side. I said No and drafted, we looked at it and we agreed. General Ankrah read over thr whole report to us again, asked us if we wanted to amend anything. We said No.”
The former Eastern Region leader also claimed that the atmosphere after the meeting was cordial and optimistic.
