and they said shakespeare is dead?! CHAROT
whoever wrote this statement may not know their target audience. mulat at engaged na mostly ang winners dito sa X long before any of this, so of course the readers are gonna catch that shady undertone dragging the exisiting movement (i.e., WinRi OFC).
siguro para mas maliwanag paki-enumerate ang objectives at bawasan na lang ang metaphors? 😅 personally ayoko rin mang-call out agad ng communities kasi alignment & wider reach is crucial, but we HAVE to be clear here.
The #WinRi community is way bigger than @WinRiOFC and the admins. Kung kami lang, alam naman naming matagal na kaming engaged sa political discourse, not just online but even on the streets. Naranasan ko nang maredtag, murahin, at itaboy dahil sa mga pinaglalaban ko.
Paulit-ulit kong sasabihin na this account was started after the joy of getting a stable Senate again after days of the Cayetano bloc not showing up. For the first few members of this community, kilig wasn’t even the door. Kilig was the surprising comfort amidst the dark political realities that persist until today.
As the community grew, Winners started engaging in various ways, from watching Committee hearings and plenary sessions online, to visiting the Senate to watch the impeachment live. Winners have posted about bills, Senate sessions, and the impeachment trial, fact-checked and mass reported fake news posts, and even discussed and debated amongst ourselves on our varying opinions on political issues (kahit minsan nauuwi sa away).
This is why that particular line was painful. I have communicated to Layag 2028 early on that I support and shall await what they have in store since we are happy to welcome the expansion of this community. I even advised them to clarify early that they are not affiliated with the official teams (something WinRiOFC did at the start to make sure we weren’t misrepresenting the Senators’ teams or ourselves).
I was excited for what they had in store and hoped things would be okay. But that line discredits so much of what this community has built and continues to build. That line reduces the political engagement (and for some, political awakening) of Winners to mere kilig and fun that shall be fleeting. That is where I take offense. The line was clear. If the intention was different, then another line or other words should have been used.
"𝓦𝓲𝓷𝓡𝓲 𝓚𝓪𝓼𝓪𝓵. 𝓦𝓲𝓷𝓡𝓲 𝓔𝓷𝓭𝓰𝓪𝓶𝓮" 💍
But what if the captains lose the ability to sail their ship? Will their crew stop steering it too?
Winners, if the kilig fades, if the spark evades… will you still sail toward a cause worth believing in?
Will you accept the invitation, hold the course, and see the voyage through… all the way to 2028?

We can criticize her naman if she actually supports or excuses human rights violations. But simply meeting Israel’s ambassador doesn’t prove that she supports everything Israel does. Diplomacy is different from endorsement. Countries can talk and work together on certain issues —
hahahaha the audacity of these dds makisabay sa pag call out kay leni kung maka "ACCOUNTABILITY" pero kapag sa mga iniidolo nila nagbubulag-bulagan.
MGA BALIW
automatically constitute an endorsement of Israel's actions. She is a local government official dealing with a foreign diplomatic representative, and diplomacy requires engagement with people and governments you may fundamentally disagree with.
She's the mayor of Naga City receiving a foreign diplomatic representative who is visiting her city.
You can disagree with Israel, condemn what is happening in Gaza, and support Palestine. But Leni Robredo receiving the Israeli ambassador in her capacity as mayor does not —
