The Minister of State in the Ministry of Sports, Rwego Ngarambe along with the Commander of the Rwanda Defence Force 1st Infantry Division, Col Egide Ndayizeye, joined today more than 1,500 students and teachers from IFAK, Kimihurura, and nearby schools to commemorate victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The event honoured over 100 students, teachers and families killed at IFAK and surrounding schools during the genocide.

In his remarks the Minister of State in the Ministry of Sports, Rwego Ngarambe encouraged young people to preserve the memory of the genocide, support survivors, learn from their history, strengthen national unity and contribute to national development.

Col Ndayizeye reminded students of the sacrifices made by RPA to stop the genocide against the Tutsi and urged them to reject genocide denial, protect the true history of the genocide and continue building a united and peaceful Rwanda as well as safeguarding country's achievements.
