A report states that, in Incheon, Korea under Japanese rule, the total income tax amount from residents in the jurisdiction of the Incheon Tax Office has surged by 10% compared to the previous year due to soaring grain prices and the development of the local economy. As is always the case, this differs from the image of poverty in colonial Korea that we learned about in school history classes and the content of reports from that time.
