@TheBrancaShow Been reading "The Anxious Generation" recently. The ease of replacing in-person community with the internet atrophied the emotional and social regulation of a lot of people.
We don't need more shame per se, but the interpersonal give and take it's a part of has become optional.
@dawsong0305@AlphaBitSage@TheBrancaShow In the same manner, it doesn't matter that you think it was aggressive either.
How do we know what was said? Even then, in a public space the guy doesn't have to obey a command like that.
IMO the question is still whether introducing the gun was an illegal escalation.
@dawsong0305@AlphaBitSage@TheBrancaShow I can definitely call it angrily. I would need to think some more before I call it aggressively, especially in a sense that suggests intent to physical contact.
@dawsong0305@AlphaBitSage@TheBrancaShow I agree it is legal barring some weird jurisprudence I don't know about. I think I was imprecise in my description above. When I said "bring out" I really should have said brandish/point, as that is when the statutes in question become relevant.
@dawsong0305@AlphaBitSage@TheBrancaShow That he's reasonably not there for a hug does not imply that he's reasonably there to do physical violence.
What facts have I twisted?
@AnywhereGuy@TheBrancaShow I'm not sure if there is audio of what the guy is saying, but body language alone makes me lean towards the draw being unreasonable. But I could easily imagine something the guy said changing that opinion.
@dawsong0305@AlphaBitSage@TheBrancaShow Uh huh. Just to be clear, you have conveyed to me that your belief is that if someone gets angry at you while they are driving, you can shoot them justifiably. Can you confirm this? Let readers decide who is reasonable.
@dawsong0305@AlphaBitSage@TheBrancaShow Let's go back to what I said about flattening the specifics. That guy had a gun. Seems like a pretty important detail that could change what responses would be reasonable. Do you have one where a sexagenarian beats someone to death with his hands?
@dawsong0305@AlphaBitSage@TheBrancaShow You'll have to show me the percentage of road rage incidents that end in murder to convince me of that. I'll take the percent that result in arrests as a proxy.
@dawsong0305@AlphaBitSage@TheBrancaShow A lot of people also get killed by speeders, but I suspect we agree that it isn't legal for a pedestrian to draw on any car that is driving 10 over the limit. You're flattening a lot of important specifics by just saying "people get killed in road rage" is a justification.
@dawsong0305@TheBrancaShow Constitutional + open carry isn't license to do anything whatsoever short of shooting. You'd probably have to track down the jurisprudence to see whether it even covers holding it in you hand vs. in a holster or on a sling.
