On 05/31/24, Officer Ryan Bender graduated from the Law Enforcement Council Police Academy, Session # 2. Officer Bender has entered into his Field Training Program as of this week. Please join me in congratulating Officer Bender on his success to date.

Today marks Captain Gamache’s last day with the UConn Police Department as he retires and starts the next chapter of his life. We thank and wish Doug nothing but the best. Thank you for your service and contributions to the UConn community.
Captain Douglas Gamache joined the UConn Police Department in February of 2004. As an officer, he served as a Field Training officer on the Storrs campus. In 2007, he was promoted to Sergeant and in 2015 to Lieutenant, where he remained in Storrs.
Over the course of his career, Captain Gamache has received multiple awards and commendations and been an intricate member and supervisor of the Field Training program.

Captain Justin Gilbert promoted to Deputy Chief of Police
After a comprehensive internal search process, the Division of University Safety is pleased to announce that Captain Justin Gilbert has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief of Police, effective February 9, 2024.
Deputy Chief Gilbert is committed to the continued development of efficient, strong relationships between the police department and members of the community.
