The @UCUniversity approach to “complete education” is intentional and competence-based.
Today, the focus was on pitching training. We shifted the training theatre to the National ICT Innovation Hub @innovationhubug to give students practical exposure and real-world experience on a modern innovation stage.
In preparation for the "Pitch-day", students were equipped not only with presentation skills, but also with research, market analysis, business modeling, design thinking, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving competencies.
Aligned with the Whole Education Approach, the training prepares students intellectually, emotionally, socially, and professionally for entrepreneurship, innovation, and the modern workforce.
Special thanks to the National ICT Innovation Hub, mentors, trainers, and resilient students.
New innovations await the nation from these young and talented tech students.

🪘 The 2025 Impact Report is here! 🪘
Our last Indaba’s theme: Urunana (Kinyarwanda for "Hand in Hand") — beautifully reflected our mission: shaping the future of AI on the continent through solidarity, cooperation, and shared responsibility.
In this report, we mark a deliberate shift to an impact-first lens, highlighting 6 key impact areas where we are enabling long-term, systemic change across Africa’s AI ecosystem.
As the community matures, our priority moves from growth to optimisation at scale, deepening our impact to ensure no one is left behind in the digital transformation of Africa.
We are deeply grateful to all our funders, partners, and volunteers whose continued support makes this work possible, and we thank you for your ongoing commitment to this shared journey.

@Mizz_Rebekah, we also have evidence of many students who enrolled in the Data Science program at UCU and successfully completed and graduated on time (within the expected two-year period).
This July, we are set to graduate more students in Data Science & Analytics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You are welcome to interact with them and get a more balanced perspective beyond the single dropout case you referenced.
We are also open to reaching out to your colleague who may have dropped out of the program so that we can support and encourage them to complete their studies.
It should also be noted that, worldwide, postgraduate students may discontinue programs for a variety of reasons, some of which are not directly related to the academic program itself.
@Mizz_Rebekah Thank you for your interest in our MSc Data Science & Analytics Programme.
A degree in Data Science & Analytics at UCU, both at Undergraduate and postgraduate levels, is worth serious consideration. Sometimes the feedback you hear online can be discouraging because people focus more on limitations than opportunities. But from a representative sample of students who have completed the programme, the programme provides solid competencies in analytics, AI & machine learning, Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, and practical problem-solving, which are the exact skills the industry is demanding right now.
What also stands out about UCU is the learning environment and emphasis on discipline, research, and critical thinking. In a field like Data Science, your growth ultimately depends a lot on how much initiative you take beyond the lecture room — building projects, networking, and applying the skills in real-world settings. Motivated students have gained alot from the program.
If you’re passionate about Data Science and willing to put in the work, UCU is definitely a strong stepping stone for both career growth and further opportunities.
We offer Data Science both at undergraduate and postgraduate, and application for September 2026 intake are open. You can apply online https://t.co/8dp4DLHqQT
We welcome you to apply and join the Centre of Excellence in the heart of Africa. We are happy to engage further in person to discuss how we can support your academic and professional growth in the field of Data Science.
Welcome to @ucufedt
Our new students were warmly received at the Freshers Orientation, where they gained essential insights on academic policies, exam regulations, and student support services.
Here's to an exciting journey of learning and growth!

AI on campus, done right. Bethany Jepchumba took the stage to introduce Nexus a campus AI system designed to support learning, communication, and student productivity.
By streamlining access to information, simplifying daily academic tasks, and enhancing the digital learning experience, Nexus shows how AI can truly serve education.
This isn’t just about smart tech, it’s about smarter learning.
Imani Mathias Yovani took the stage to introduce File Flow, an intelligent desktop agent that organizes your files, automates workflows and learns your habits while keeping you firmly in control.
This is personal computing done right: AI that adapts to your workflow, handles the repetitive tasks, and frees you up to focus on what actually matters. The future of productivity isn’t about replacing the user, it’s about empowering them.
