Is the BJP IT cell toxic ?

The beauty of Jantar Mantar was that many girls and young women said that they felt safe in the crowd.

Many said they were supported and even protected to an extent by the boys and young men.

The young men at Jantar Mantar showed empathy, strength and courage. This is an example of positive masculinity.

Where the girls are feeling unsafe is in the digital space.

Boys and men supporting the ruling party are indulging in rape threats, prostitution jibes and doxxing.

This is the IT cell, the pit of toxic masculinity.

The perpetrators of this filth should be identified, named and shamed.

If I were the Prime Minister of India, this would be my address to the students:

My dear students and young citizens,

I speak to you today not as Prime Minister, but as someone who must listen when the youth feel unheard.

I understand your fear that education no longer guarantees jobs. Your frustration is real and so are your questions. I also realise that this isn’t just about one resignation but the pent up frustration that needs large scale reforms:

Immediately, my government is taking the following steps:

1. I mourn the tragic loss of 18 young lives linked to the NEET crisis. No examination failure can ever be worth a student’s life. I am sorry.

2. I apologise to every student who faced a lathi charge while peacefully protesting. The alleged use of pellet guns, the lorry carrying stones near the protest site and every instance of excessive force will be investigated and those found guilty will be punished.

3. We need to increase our investment in education. I commit that Public investment in education will rise by 0.5 percentage points of GDP every year for the next ten years.

4. We will publish transparent data on employment, vacancies, recruitment delays. Even IITs having a 28% vacant positions and Central universities having 26% unfilled vacancies is alarming.

5. We will work hard on creating the promised 2 crore jobs each year. Job creation in private sector is a must. We will soon come up with fiscal policies that encourage and incentivise job creation. I am setting up a committee to make recommendations.

I will not ask you to remain silent. Question us, challenge us and hold us accountable. I promise that my government will approach everything that troubles you with an open mind.

BJP might lose power someday, but the damage it has done won’t disappear easily. Its ideology has dug deep roots, and the army of loyalists it has created will keep dragging that legacy forward long after the party is gone.

A huge chunk of Gen Z and Millennials has already been infected with this mindset. You can spot these so-called “Sanghi warriors” everywhere — schools, colleges, offices, corporate floors, society parks, and every corner of public life.

They move around like ideological zombies, parroting the same lines, defending the same narratives, and spreading the same propaganda without a second thought.

The recent humiliation of a young girl (Ruchika Singh) is a perfect example. She was caught in a video using abusive language against PM Modi during the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar. Within hours, BJP bhakts launched a full-scale online witch-hunt — doxxing her, flooding her with threats, and demanding police action. An FIR was filed against her.

She was later forced to release a public apology video, claiming she is only 15 years old and was influenced by the crowd. Even after the Prime Minister himself said the “misguided children” should be forgiven and guided, the same army of loyalists continued the pile-on.

This is the culture they have normalised — any criticism, even from a teenager, must be met with maximum humiliation and intimidation.
