Bigger than sports.

Players: Great leaders separate themselves in the preseason. They win conditioning, finish every rep/workout & do it every single day, even when they don’t feel like it. They lead by example & constantly prove themselves to their team & coaches! Great leaders compete every day!
Uncoachable vs. Coachable:
Uncoachable players:
-Take it personally
-Feel they’re being singled out
-Become very defensive
Coachable players:
-Open to feedback/criticism
-Want to be coached
-See it as a way to get better
PLAYERS: Next time you are annoyed that your coach holds you accountable for effort and attitude and asks that you bring your very best in practice and in games day after day, ask yourself this: Would you rather play for a coach that doesn’t care?

Interested in becoming an NCAA student-athlete? Follow this timeline to plan out your high school years and meet eligibility requirements upon graduation.
PLAYERS: College coaches like to learn more about recruits by watching more than just the games. They pay attention to body language. They watch pregame warmups. They observe you talking with people afterwards. The best programs not only want the best talent but the best people.
Parents: Learning to fight through adversity is a skill that some adults are taking away from this generation of kids. Failing is inevitable & necessary. It must be practiced. You can’t protect them from it, so teach them how to get back up & respond. It’s crucial to success.
PLAYERS: How to get more playing time:
1. Know what’s important to your coaches and do those things better than everyone else
2. Be a great teammate
3. Be consistent/dependable
4. Compete and be tough
5. Embrace coaching; show improvement
6. Be the best option
As the school year begins to wind down make sure to use our high school timeline as a way to stay on track for meeting initial-eligibility requirements.
