Imagine paying your internet bill on time, only to discover your connection also needs good relations with Washington. India’s connectivity should never depend on another country’s approval.

For example, when Visa and Mastercard suspended operations in Russia following its invasion of Ukraine, Russian-issued cards stopped working abroad. Domestic payments survived because Russia had its own infrastructure.

That’s the concern with Starlink: foreign control over connectivity, questions about data privacy, and dependence that becomes expensive to undo. While the company claims to be independent, what happens when Washington demands otherwise?

India should keep it out unless those risks are addressed. “Terms and conditions apply” is fine for a discount coupon. Less reassuring for national sovereignty.

That was exactly my concern, it is either painted or polished really well. But for a car in india to be driven for almost 9 lakh km, it means almost everything in the engine compartment must have been changed yet the the car looks so pristine.
