A few ways I personally try to reduce the information gap:
• I set up Google Alerts for keywords related to fully funded programs, fellowships, scholarships, grants, and other opportunities that interest me.
• I have intentionally trained my social media algorithms. My Instagram Explore page, Twitter timeline, and other feeds are heavily populated with opportunities, education content, fellowships, scholarships, leadership programs, and professional development resources.
• I follow opportunity websites and organizations that regularly post scholarships, fellowships, grants, jobs, conferences, and leadership programs.
• I follow embassies, diplomatic missions, and cultural centers because they often advertise scholarships, exchange programs, language programs, and leadership opportunities.
• I have built a network of friends who actively share opportunities with one another.
• I belong to WhatsApp groups and communities dedicated to sharing opportunities.
• I follow people on social media whose content is centered on opportunities and professional development.
• I search using specific keywords instead of broad ones. For example, I might search "women's leadership fellowship," "French studies conference," or "youth leadership program" instead of simply searching "scholarship."
• I subscribe to newsletters from universities, foundations, and organizations that fit my interests.
• I attend webinars, conferences, and information sessions where opportunities are often mentioned before they become widely known.
• I reach out to people who have won opportunities I am interested in and learn from their experience.
• I follow institutions and organizations directly because many opportunities are announced on their pages first.
• I make searching for opportunities a habit. I do not wait for opportunities to find me; I actively look for them.
• I share opportunities generously. Interestingly, the more opportunities I share, the more people send opportunities my way.
The information gap can never be completely eliminated, but intentional systems like these have helped me reduce it significantly.

@justtemi__@PabloHoggs That’s not how grief works. A moment comes where you realise what has happened and that’s when the grief sets in. It’s unpredictable
